I eat eggs regularly, often times daily. I am perturbed that eggs have gone from approximately $6 for five dozen to $16.39 per five dozen.

I have thought of getting chickens but with two German Shepherds (one three months old) I do not want to test fate and have them start a poultry free for all out back. Plus, since we put our big German Shepherd to sleep (tumor) the coyotes come right to the fence. Then there are the skunks.

I think I will be paying $16.00 for five dozen eggs for awhile. Bummer.

.

I have been eating 4 raw egg yolks a day for the past 2 weeks not sure why but I guess for the nutrition I get plenty of protein from other sources mostly animal. I had a heart catheterization when I turned 65 in August and the doctor my arteries are clear keep doing what you are doing. A premium egg top shelf where I live goes for about $8. You can still get runny confined animal fed for under $5. Would love to have my own chickens.

16 bucks for 5 dozen eggs is not so bad happy eating.

William,

Rising prices are no reason to give up eggs. I love them and will continue to buy them anyway. I hope someday the rise in prices will stop being so rapid

I have Kansas relatives that get plenty of their eggs from just a few chickens and since the chickens eat bugs on their property it does not cost them a dime. And they are Organic. I like deviled eggs but try to avoid them due to their high cholesterol.

Eggs

Mary Ann and I buy a dozen eggs almost every week. I did try the vegetarian JU ST egg once.

I chopped some tomato and scrambled with two eggs, put in a small fry pan, the when almost set I heat (I used microwave, I have them stored frozen) a small tortilla and place on top, then flip over. Fold in half and have both sides browned. If I had mushrooms some slices would be good.

I've done this in a bigger fry pan and wrap and then rolled it.

Eggs white are pretty good for scrambled eggs and they have No Cholesterol. I like eggs and especially deviled eggs but I use too much mayo and now I try to avoid the egg yolk (although it tastes good).

I still by them. I started the gout thing, and last time I ate bacon my gall bladder gave me the finger.

Now with my eggs I eat Morning Star Farm pretend sausage. They are not bad. Obviously no fat.

The thing that broke my Vegan challenge of 6 months was being confronted with pork breakfast sausages and scrambled eggs. I had 5 that day, being born in Britain means we like our real sausages.

I prefer just plain hard boiled eggs cut in 1/2 with a little tartar sauce on top with toast.

We had chickens growing up. They just had the run of the place. Outside of course. After us kids moved on my father never replenished the herd. The eggs were very incredible.

I'm about to start using Egg Albumin Protein Powder. Surfing right now to buy Vanilla and Chocolate Egg Albumin.

Think eggs are great I'm just not big on the time to unstick eggs from a frying pan plus I add too much ketchup to it or eat whole eggs with Mayo, deviled.

That's a good idea. Ordered chocolate but next time I could just make my own. I'll see how their chocolate egg albumin tastes. Thanks.

I was looking at a brand of Egg White Powder (Instantized) bulk food egg whites(for baking) read that it was dried egg whites, could be different than Instantized.

Protein powders seem to have really gone up in price, that make me wonder if they're worth it. Even plain chalky soy protein is put in a fancy tub and priced high when you could buy that stuff in a bag or loose bulk real cheap.

The Big bags of egg protein powder were great. Agreed, now the prices are very high and the jugs are only filled about 1/3 of the way up.

Some use ripe avocado instead of mayo with deviled eggs.

What is the secret? I tried mixing protein powder with oatmeal and could not finish my bowl.

I finally resolved that thogu eggs are $25 for 5 dozen, they are still a pretty good food bargain. I wish they were $6.50 still but, that is a pipe dream.

We bought a dozen large eggs $3.69 CDN (US $2.76).

5 dozen US is $13.8, $18.45 Canadian for 5 dozen.

This looks good except I'd have my eggs over-hard and sandwiched not open faced, also mash the avocado . . .
