After doing ALOT of research I found eggs to an excellent source of protein for building muscle. Only, the eggs that were around when Vince was around I cannot find. I am trying to find pastured fertilized eggs. So the chickens get the proper diet, sunlight and they are fertile. Actually I am trying to find eggs that are:

Organic(No Pesticides in the Feed)
No GMOs
Pastured
Fertile
Omega-3(Chickens fed the right diet(Bugs,Grass and FRESHLY ground omega-3 seeds)
Soy Free

I still eat pastured eggs but I cannot find eggs that meet this criteria and I prolly wont. Unless I find a company, farmer or I raise some small chickens. But to be fertile they need a rooster and I wont tolerate one crowing all day and night. Esp my neighbors wont tolerate it.

Not sure all those criteria-s were around in VG day either...IMHO
Home chickens would be the best, fertile I don't think that is a real big deal to be honest...
So no need to have the rooster to get 90% of what you want.
I eat good eggs or at least they are reputed to be.
Some times I have a dozen a day.

Yeah I dont know. Maybe they did. I am considering in the future having a chicken coupe and getting my own eggs. I hear its not too hard. Only problem is to be fertile I would need a rooster. Which are hella loud. I would need ample space to drive them away from my house and or neighbors. But we'll see... I think I found 1 company that has them BUT they are in a different state. But they do ship to the Whole Foods near them. Maybe I'll ask W.F. by me if they would order some.

The other day was in gym talked to young man who is tall and thin and doing D'L's.
Eggs came up as the perfect food by me and he mentioned only eats the whites...
He is young and needs the whole egg I told him...
Nope he mentions, bad for cholesterol, another myth...

At the moment I feel it should be used in moderation, like everything else. For a number of reasons, some people may have hypercholesterolemia or whatever defects. But yeah I generally go with a couple of whole eggs a day and most people should be fine with that. On the other hand, the dozen to three dozen a day that I heard Vince recommend in SPECIAL cases, I dont think that would be a good idea. At least not for someone who doesnt have the genetic ability to handle it.

Moderation is ??
5-6 eggs at a setting is getting you over 30 grams of protein if you eat the whole egg...
Some eat more, at night it is a good meal, scrambled soft, some water and salt.
Morning also. Along with a cup of coffee...

I hope it's OK to bump this thread...

It should be noted that there is a difference between "fertile" and "fertilized."

I can find farm-fresh eggs labelled as "fertile eggs" at a local health food store. You might try that kind of place, or a food co-op. An article by one of Vince's pupils said that "fertile eggs" are the same as what we now call "cage-free."

Vince recommended up to three dozen raw eggs a day for muscle growth. I am a little worried about salmonella, so I buy pasteurized cage-free eggs to put in my protein shakes (I'm nowhere near three dozen though, LOL).

I asked a man with a PhD.in poultry science about salmonella in eggs and he just shook his head and said it wasn't that big a deal. His exact words were "You've had a stomach ache before haven't you?"I said "yes, you mean that's it?"He nodded his head "Yes".I've ate a lot of raw eggs in the past and I just smell of them to be sure and I've never had a problem with them.
How often has bad management been mistaken for destiny?

I am curious if Vince's training dietary advice for fertile eggs involved systems for myostatin inhabitation for gains along with cholesterol (for hormone development) and protein.

Here is an ad for a newer dietary supplement that has fertile egg yolks as it's main source ingredient for blocking myostatin.

From what I've read, Vince didn't mention myostatin inhibition in his books and articles. He claimed that large quantities of raw fertile eggs were "like a mild cycle of dianabol." I think that might be an exaggeration...

I have started using non-pasteurized brown eggs in my protein shakes (because they're cheaper!), with no ill effect. YMMV.

On some days I eat half a dozen eggs or so, in one form or another, and my cholesterol levels were just fine when I had a blood test done recently. The USDA's new dietary recommendations basically say they were wrong about egg yolks and cholesterol all those years; for mpst people, blood cholesterol is not affected by dietary cholesterol. However, in about thirty percent of the population, dietary cholesterol *can* negatively affect blood cholesterol. This appears to be common with diabetics, for instance. So somebody should have a good knowledge of how their body is affected before scarfing down dozens of eggs a day.

So, I just wanted to provide an update...

I have continued to consume raw eggs on a regular basis without ill effect; never the regular grocery store eggs, but most often cage-free organic eggs. I actually prefer very local farm-fresh eggs sold at health food stores or food co-ops. But those are significantly more expensive, so I don't get them all the time. I mean, eight bucks for a dozen eggs is a bit much. :p

It's great to mix a couple eggs with some heavy cream and a scoop of protein powder.

TheManFromTaco. What is the difference?

Thanks,

William2: "Fertilized" specifically means the egg has been fertilized by a rooster. So they could be incubated and grow into chickens.

While I often see the term "fertile eggs" used in this sense, if Vince's student (whose name I forget) is correct, then Vince was just referring to "cage free" eggs when he spoke of "fertile eggs," as opposed to battery-cage factory farming.

Thanks for the reply. So I guess the term is the same. We buy cage free and our egg lady said any where there is a rooster the eggs are fertile. We get about 4 dozen every two weeks they are great eggs all different shapes and sizes with nice firm orange colored yokes. Soon winter will be here (New York) so I guess the yokes may change somewhat as they will get some feed. Anyway free range non factory farm eggs are the best, will never go back to those yellow runny eggs you get at the store, although improvements are being made.

Much success with your training,
William

I have started sourcing farm-fresh local eggs through Craigslist. I just got thirty eggs for $10. I put a couple in my milk-protein mix this morning, and I'm sipping on it right now.

Previously, when I would get similar eggs at a food co-op or health food store, it would cost about $8 to $10 for a dozen!
