I've been at this for over a year and a half now... I've been involved in a few fitness challenges with the local college... good motivation and it's what got me into this in the first place...

I have achieved a goal of a 200 pound deadlift... six reps on the final set the other day... tickled about that... I think I could have done more, but I was trying to be aware of my form... not only that, I didn't want to drop 200 pounds of weights on my floor!

Here's what I did today:

Close Grip Pushups: 11/11/11/11
Close Grip Presses: 10x40/10x60/8x70/8x80

Standing EZ Bar Curls:10x30/8x40/6x50/5x55
Standing BB 21's: 21x20/21x25

Crunches: 15x25/15x25
Seated Twists: 15x20/15x20
Lying Side Leg Raises: 15/15
Ball Twists: 15/15

I'm hoping I'll be able to input my workouts in this log each day!

Did 30 minutes of cardio on my mini-trampoline... includes three minutes of warm up and about five of cool down...

Heart rate hit about 150bpm which turned out to be about 80% of my max... will have to keep an eye on that!

Okay... so math isn't my strong point...

I use free weights, and I thought I'd counted everything correctly.. double checked... triple checked... apparently I forgot to add the bar... duh...

Deadlifts: 10x130/10x150/8x180/6x230 (personal best... only because I forgot to add the bar.. it was 20 pounds heavier than I counted and it sure as hell felt like it)...

Bent Over DB Rows: 10x20/10x40/8x50/8x60

This is all I did tonight as I've had a nagging pain in the side for a couple of days... figure I'll rest the back and possibly shoulders for a while to see if the break makes any difference...

Now I'm off to learn how to count...

This is from yesterday...

Nothing too horribly physical... I would like to note I turned down a cinnamon bun, though.

It looked good, but I think this was more psychological than anything, as it wasn't very gooey looking... so, I don't feel bad for not eating one. So, one point for me, far too many for junk food....

Seated DB Presses: 10x20/10x20/8x25/7x25
Military Presses: 10x40/8x60/6x70/6x80
Standing Lat Raises: 10x10/10x10/8x15/8x15

The excuses: I was scheduled to do Calves and Abs today as well... still have DOMS in the lower back. That's excuse #1... excuse #2 is I got a call as I was wrapping up shoulders to attend a quick meeting...

Tomorrow is an off day... I'll rest and let the back catch up as Friday is back day... I may hold off on that too...

I've got this six month pass from a gym... a client of ours at work... so, I went in for the fitness evaluation this morning.. it's step one of two for a routine to be set up...

She asked some questions, threw me on the cardio bike and let me go for nine minutes... good Lord... tough, but apparently I'm very fit... the resistance hit 190 watts... I reached a six out of ten at 190 watts... she said she's never seen it go that high... (I'm bragging a bit here ;))

Then a few stretches and off to the elipitical for ten minutes....

I will be a puddle on the floor this afternoon as I won't be able to walk....

I am going to a gym starting tomorrow and I'm not too sure what the trainer has set up program-wise yet...!

You bet! I have a six month pass.. tried a gym before on a pass I'd won, but found them more interested in getting me to sign up than helping me out (which may have led me to become a member in the long run).

Did the tour of the gym today... learned some of the machines and such... back again tomorrow to finish off... then it's on to the routine!

A little different than what I've been doing... two sets of ten... full body... we're going to reevaluate in about six weeks... should be fun!

Great!!!
The great thing about my gym is they leave ya alone unless you ask... ;-))
I started there on a 14 day pass, then signed up for a year... I'm sure I'll renew when the time comes. It's hard to beat having all the nice equipment.. esspecially for leg day... I like training at home in Stingo's dungeon but onece you get to know a few regulars at the gym, it's motivating to be in the same space....

Good luck in the next few weeks!

Well, I'm looking forward to this place... pretty nice people and willing to take the time to show me the gear... I'm a free-weight guy, but the switch to machines will be cool!

Did some more orientation on the gear at the gym...

Started with 10 min on the eliptical... then some leg stuff... inverted leg press... 160lbsx10x2...

Some back and tricep stuff too... this is a full body thing three times a week...

Wrapped up with 10 minutes on the bike....

Going to this gym for the next while will allow me to add some cardio to my routine.. I've been kind of neglecting it...

I will be doing a full body workout three times a week at the gym... so, on the off days, I'll do cardio at home when I would have normally done weights... I've been doing the split routine set up by FT for the last while and this full body will likely shock the muscles a tad as well as give me an opportunity with some machines...

Anyhoo... today, 30 minutes on the rebounder...

I need a shower...

Full body thingy...

For most of the exercises, I'm going to, or the most part, put the number of plates as the weight varies... some are pounds, some are kgs... I'll get it figured and use that later...

11 minutes on the eliptical trainer...

Leg Press: 10x9 plates/10x10 plates
Smith Chest Press: 10x20lbs/10x20lbs (not sure how much the bar weighs... I'm guessing around 40 pounds...)
Ball Squats: 12lbs in each hand, down and count to ten five times... then ten pulses with 24 pounds
Seated Row: 10x6 plates/10x7 plates
Chest Press: 10x7 plates/10x8 plates
Shoulder Press: 10x7 plates/10x9 plates
Lat Pull Downs: 10x9 plates/10x9 plates
Tricep Rope Pull Downs: 10x10kgs/10x12.5kgs
Bicep Curls: 10x12.5kgs/10x17.5kgs
Planking: 1x30 seconds/1x30seconds
Bicycle Crunches: 1x30/1x20
Dips: 10/10

Totally different than I am used to... usually do a split, but this full body thing may throw my body into a loop for the good... a little shock to the system.

I may add some more weight once I get the place all figured out...

Re: yadmit Training Log: Mid Point of latest Challenge
10-26-04 05:59 PM - Post#36103

I'm in a fitness challenge at the local college... started off really well... over the summer I apparently gained 7.5 pounds of muscle... thanks to some exercise, beer and hot dogs...

Here are the stats from September 1st:

Weight: 190 lbs
Waist: 88.5cm
Hip: 104.5cm
Body Fat: 15.9%
Fat weight: 30.2 lbs
Lean Mass: 159.8 lbs
Heart Rate: 78 bpm

Stats from October 26th:

Weight: 187.4 (down 2.6lbs)
Waist: 87 cm (down 1.5cm)
Hip: 103 cm (down 1.5cm)
Body Fat: 17.5% (up 1.6%)
Fat Weight: 32.9 lbs (up 2.7lbs)
Lean Mass: 154.5 lbs (down 5.3lbs)
Heart Rate: 66 bpm (down 12bpm)

What ticks me off is every time I do one of these, I lose muscle, yet nothing really changed between the end of the spring and now, excpet for what I ate.. I'm now eating cleaner... not super clean, but much better than the summer and late spring...

Just posting to vent some frustration... argh!

Today was the second day of the full body...

11 minutes on the eliptical

Chest Press: 8 plates by 10/9 plates by 10
Smith Incline Press: 64 lbs x 10/64 lbs x 10
Leg Press: 10 plates x 10/ 10 plates x 10
Leg Extension: 4 plates x 10/5 plates x 10
Seated Row: 7 plates x 10/9 plates x 10
Lat Pull Down: 9 plates x 10/10 plates x 10
Shoulder Press: 8 plates x 10/10 plates x 10
Tricep Rope Pull Down: 10kgx10/12.5kgx10
Dips: 10/10
Bicep Curls: 12.5kgx10/17.5kgx10
Planking: 2x30 seconds
Side to Side Planking: 2 sets of 5 on each leg

Whew...

I feel I could add more.... I just want to get more comfortable with the machines... shouldn't take too long.. back on Friday...

Should mention I have some tension in my back from scraping the car windows this morning.. damn winter...

11 minutes on the eliptical

Not necessarily in this order:

Chest Press: 9 plates by 10/10 plates by 10
Smith Incline Press: 74 lbs x 10/74 lbs x 10
Inverted Squat: 160lbs x 10/180lbs plates x 10
Leg Extension: 5 plates x 10/6 plates x 10
Seated Row: 8 plates x 10/10 plates x 10
Lat Pull Down: 9 plates x 10/10 plates x 10
Shoulder Press: 9 plates x 10/11 plates x 10
Tricep Rope Pull Down: 12.5kgx10/15.5kgx10
Dips: 10x10lbs/10x10lbs
Bicep Curls: 15.5kgx10/17.5kgx10

I think I can add more weight with the Smith, the seated rows and the shoulder press. The weight on the lat pulldowns was good.

I dropped abs today as I was running out of time... had a meeting this morning... will do abs and more cardio at home tomorrow...

Did some standard cardio today...

31 minutes on the mini-trampoline... that includes the three minute warm up and 60 seconds of cool-down on the thing...

The half hour felt good... hit the 'zone' where it was just step after step... heart rate was at about 75%... Bring on the Halloween Candy!
