As most of you know, I'm a kettlebell guy. 80% of the stuff I've done for the last 11 or so years has been kettlebells with a few breaks for 5/3/1 at a gym about 7 miles away.

I started going to Planet Fitness about 3 years ago 2-3 times a week. Do some Dips, Chest Press, Dumbbell Press and Pullups and go for a 30 minute jog on the treadmill in the winter. For $20/month I've worked out in downtown San Francisco, 2 different gyms in Naples, FL, and a couple of towns around me in MA.

I like it, get to see people and I've made a lot of good workout friends.

The gym in my hometown opened up about 3 weeks ago and it's been a great change of pace. It's empty and clean as can be. I received an email today saying MASKS ARE REQUIRED effective August 1.

I just cancelled my membership. It's not healthy breathing CO2 in my. opinion especially when your breathing is heavy.

I'm not a mask guy, I don't believe in it, but will wear one when necessary.

A vaccination can't come soon enough. Looks like I'm all in on Kettlebell Burn. 2.0

I added Loaded Carries to the arsenal yesterday. Watching the Red Sox game yesterday, I did 100 paces between innings.

I worked for a builder as general labourer, lots of sanding, sweeping etc and always wore a dust mask, but some didn't (the fools), drywall and wood dust is toxic.

I've been invited to a semi-private yoga class and will be given a mask, I just hope the pattern is manly haha! something camouflage, my shopping mask is denim.

I wear a mask often when I train. I work with a number of cancer survivors...

Oh...and yes:

I'm in my 60s. I have a history of pleurisy. I don't want my last memories of me being choking out face down on a gurney.

So...I wear a mask.

I completely get it. My Dad was a coach for 30 years up here. I ran into one of his rivals at the same gym before the virus hit. He was. weary about shaking hands as he was undergoing cancer treatments and his immune system was low.

I COMPLETELY get it. If there are pre existing conditions, or at risk, you shouldn't be at a public gym anyway.

My 17 year old got it while working at the grocery store. Luckily, my other son, wife and I tested negative and quarantined.

It's a catch 22 for me.

I won't workout with a mask.

I won't go to a gym, or anyplace else, that doesn't require a mask.

So I workout at home.

And then there's them that wore elevation masks, I would just pretend I was training for the twin peaks of Kilimanjaro.

Stop being an idiot. Health care professionals have worn masks for ages. Firefighters and military have worn mask that seriously disrupt breathing for ages. You can't wear a flimsy mask while on the treadmill? How weak are you?

You are more worried about lack of O2 than catching COVID? (Or spreading COVID. Like most idiots, you are more worried about yourself and not thinking about spreading it to others.)

You know more than health professionals.

If you don't want to wear a mask - stay home.

Idiot.

A pulse oximeter is like 35 bucks at Walgreens so you can see how much Co2 you're getting wearing a mask.

Or I can save you some time and tell you: pretty much the same.

I work out in an uninsulated shed, and so I've worked out for many, many hours wearing a thick wool mask around my neck, mouth and nose.

I'm still alive. See also winter on the rail trail hikes.

A Scottish doctor did 22 miles to work and back in a mask last week, monitoring his oxygen saturation levels, to dispel the myth that it reduces oxygen levels.

The flimsy blue ones are really easy to breath through. You can bin them afterwards.

First off stop with the personal attacks and poor attempt to shame someone for having an opinion that differs from you.

Secondly I am a Registered Nurse and you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

If you are scared of getting AIDS put a condom on, better yet abstain from promiscuous sexual behavior.

If you are so afraid of living in the World you can stay home, stop pushing your uneducated fear and panic on everyone else.

I’m astounded that six months into this, we’re still arguing about masks.

This thread amazes me. Seriously. It boggles my mind that people are still bitching about wearing masks. It's not a matter of believe. It's not a matter of convenience. It's a matter of life and death for many. And if you won't wear a piece of fabric to help your brothers our, then, well, you were raised wrong.

Differing opinions are one thing, let's be careful not to turn into a clone of other social media forums and descend into name calling / shaming and abuse eh?

I expect more of this place.

Wrong, it's about Constitutional Rights and Freedoms. This virus is being used as a political tool. Open your eyes!

It's okay to disagree, that's what a forum is for, to have debate and conversation, not for name calling. Did you feel satisfied that you disagreed and hurled an insult at a complete stranger? Does that make your life happier?

I forgive you and wish you well.

I put my money where my mouth is. I CANCELLED my membership before I posted this thread.

I'll run outside, breathe fresh air and workout with my kettlebells in my basement where there is a CO2 detector.

Guys. Do not argue politics here and stop the personal attacks. It is not okay to call someone an idiot here.

I’m locking this thread.
