It's been reported that last week, Flex Wheeler had emergency surgery due to a collapsed vein in his leg and had his right leg partially amputated.

Flex never won the Mr.Olympia but was a top competitor for years.

Best wishes sent to Flex.

Very interesting. Amputation is fairly drastic, it would have had to been left untreated for some time, it would seem. Well wishes for a speedy recovery.

That's tough. I guess he was forced to retire in 2003 from other complications.

If I recall correctly he tried to comeback, naturally. He also talked about difficult issues he had while growing up as he tried to help others discussing his personal issues.

He seemed as if he is a good person but Bodybuilding is a Tough Sport.

Adding, I wish Flex the Best.

I doubt he was ever natural - whatever that means nowadays. But drug use is a personal decision and no one can compete in pro or amateur contests these days totally natural.

Flex apparently had serious health issues with his kidneys and his circulatory system for years. Whether or not this was due to his steroid use is not something I am in position to judge. However, his pro career is certainly over now.

I just hope he has good health going forward.

It's about time we start a completely natural BB competition then! Maybe all the" Big Guys from 60ies " could leave it as a legacy to the world. Good things shouldn't be deleted from human experience just because of some insane drive. All the senior BBs should get together and step up as judges of honor. Aye!
