This thread has been very helpful. Thanks to all.

I've been pondering the foam roller thing for a couple of weeks, but seeing as how it has the IOL stamp of approval, I shall move from pondering to doing.

Also, I had a chance meeting with my old high school basketball coach last night (first time we've spoke in 25 years or so). He was buying tennis balls at Target. Just had back surgery and his doc recommended something very similar to ingrids idea.
