To begin your personal training log, simply start a new topic -- don't reply to this one. If you don't know how to start a new post, here are the instructions.

In the subject line type your name, and in the post introduce yourself in terms of your training and/or nutrition goals, and outline your plan. Then make your entries by opening up your log (your new topic) and replying to your previous entry. People will be able to make comments in your log via the same process.

Please be diligent in replying to the correct post in order to keep the logs orderly. If you post in the wrong log, drop Bill or me a note and we'll move the post for you.

A note to the eager: Challenges only work when they're rare. If you start up a challenge too soon on the heels of another, it will probably fail. They also only work when they're supported by good attention on the part of the instigator. If you don't follow through, you'll get little response on this or future challenges. Finally, the longer the challenge, the quicker the drop-off.

If number of views is important to you, you should know that many of us read the forum by using the Recent Posts link (above right), rather than opening each thread. Those views are not reflected in your thread view count; we're seeing your log even if not clicking on the thread.

Two other things:

1) Newcomers get fewer responses to their logs if there are no questions asked. Merely logging your workouts is absolutely fine, however if you want responses, give the readers something to ask or answer.

2) Those who make comments in other logs are more likely to get reciprocal attention to their own.

hey Laree, is there anyway to change the name of my training log without starting a new one? i like being able to go back and compare without searching for an old log but i want to drop the part deux since it's not reflective of where i am now. thanks!

Sort of.

If anyone wants to change the title of a training log, just drop me a private topic with the old and new titles. I'll change the subject line in the first post so that it reads right in the topic list, and will change it on the most recent post so that it will display the new title going forward.

I'm not able to change it in all the previous posts (without doing it manually), but in a way, that's probably good since the original title describes the log during the time of those earlier posts.

Complaint:

These lock topics get in the way too often. I know they are suppose to be important but everytime I go to the logs I always have to read the same two or three topics every time I log in.

Am I alone in believing this?

I must be in a bad mood... don't banish me Laree.

I believe you're referring to the "pinned" topics, not the locked topics... the few threads we keep stickied to the top position.

I agree with you.

We do keep them at a minimum, and don't leave them there after their purpose has been achieved. However, some just need to stay here; a perfect example is the one you've just replied to -- instructions on how to create a new training log will probably have to stay at the top of the training log forum forever.
