Would like some comments on Dave's Bomber Blend from those of you who have tried it. I am wanting to try it but a little leery as to whether or not I will get my money's worth. I have no doubt that it is a top quality product but it's also almost $30.00 a container. How well does it mix? Water, the best? What about whole or skim milk? Need a blender? Basically do not use supplements other than a multi-vitamin/mineral that I buy at Wal-Mart (Century-Vite, I think) and sometimes even at Dollar General. You can't beat the prices at either of these store but sometimes I do wonder about the quality. Even the vitamins and minerals I buy at Dollar General are made by Rexall, which I consider to be a very reputable company. Any advice or comments on quality of supplements and sources of purchase? Other than a multi-vitamin my only other "supplement" is a Carnation Instant Breakfast and if I am hungry or feel the need for more protein, a peanut butter sandwich made with Peter Pan creamy on Roman Meal bread. Supplements are just high everywhere, it seems to me, so I just try to double up on my servings of ordinary food, milk, tuna, eggs, etc. GNC is my closest health food store at my local mall but the prices on their items are just ridiculous. Any comments are always appreciated.

Bomber Blend is a great supplement when whole food's not available (like when staying in hotels at a conference). It mixes well with either water or with milk and tastes great either way. Milk seems to make for a richer flavor, though, and the chocolate shake is a perfect fix for us chocoholics. Don't need a blender; a shaker bottle does just fine.

(edited b/c first post didn't sound as positive as I wanted it to)

I have read that TwinLab produces a product line for KMart but the reports say that the quality has been diminished in order to sell to the mass market.

I've been drinking BB for I guess a little over a year now and have tried many protein shakes, including Beverly, GNC, ON, and Isopure. BB is by far the best I've had both in taste and in "mixability". I usually drink it as 2 scoops mixed with 16 oz. skim milk and I just put it in a shaker cup, shake, and drink. At this point I'm on a restricted calorie diet but one of my meals is 2 scoops of bb mixed with 8 oz. water and 8 oz. skim milk...it literally is my favorite meal of the day. I have in the past made shakes with it in a blender with milk and ice but I prefer the convenience of a shaker cup, there is absolutely no need for a blender. If calorically you can do milk I would recommend it as it tastes best that way to me. Water isn't bad but it's just not as creamy and thick. I've also had it mixed with skim milk and a teaspoon of natural peanut butter and this is excellent as well. The vanilla flavor is my personal favorite but I just don't like chocolate anything that much so take that for what it's worth. In summary I highly recommend it, I've had no protein powder that mixes as well or tastes half as good as bb.

I really like BB, it tastes great and I especially like how well it mixes. No blender required to get rid of the lumps, it dissolves very easily. I do typically mix it then refrigerate it rather than drinking it immediately, because I like it very cold. The only other protein powder I like is Beverly's Ultra Size, but it does not mix well without a blender, and costs a bit more than BB.

hope this helps,
Vanessa

No blender needed... Water, milk shakes up GREAT! Taste is superior!!!! Better than anything out there IMO. Almost $30 a tub is CHEAP!!! Anything less than that either need a blender, doesn't have enough protein, or tastes like yucky soy! So what id it costs a couple more bucks? It's definately worth it. You can read ALL about it on the site.

Count one more for the fan list. I have two full containers of two other companies sitting on a shelf, could not stand the taste.

Have tried a number of other blends and "Bombers Blend" is the best in my opinion.

Love at first sight too... the Drapers send the containers personally. Their formula is tailor made (read it at the site).

It would be better to pay $30/- and know that you are getting your moneyz worth into your bloodstream than pay all the middlemen and marketing gimmicks when you go for other products, and you still dont know the manufacturers personally, to know what they put in it. I am not bashing any mfgs as such, but some products are lot of hype and low on the delivery - still they run bcoz people just believe the marketing ploys.

As for mixability of BB, its great and you dont need a showel to get it out of the blender if you add some ingredients; the elixir of youth is also good to shake in a jar and gulp when you have time constraints...

Hey, that makes me feel a little nervous, like we'd better update our wills or something. :~)

Actually, I just wanted to add a mini-clarification: The chocolate doesn't mix with a spoon quite as well as the vanilla. We use cocoa for flavoring and it takes a little longer to break down... ya gotta stir extra with the chocolate.

Thanks for the kudos above!

This is a ranking of PP I have used

1. Bomber Blend (overall best)
2. Biotest Grow Low Carb (best with plain water, too sweet with milk)
3. Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Protein Stack (Good taste, but it
isn't a blend, whey only. But it is cheap!)
4. Muscle Milk - YUCK!
5. EAS Myoplex - Blah
6. HDT ProBlend 55 - So so
7. ISS Pro M3 - So so
8. MetRx Protein Plus - Tolerable
9. Optimum 100% Whey Protein - this one is OK, cheap, and readily
available
10. Jay Robb Whey Protein (Good Taste, not easy to find, and kinda $)

As you can see I've tried a bunch of brands. I prefer Protien Blends
over Whey Only. I like the taste of sweetening with Stevia and/or
Sucralose. I DO N0T like the of Ace-K, Aspartame, and Sacharin.

My favorite blend is Bomber Blend but I will buy Biotest at times
also. The best pure whey for me is Champion Nutrition.

I don't experiment any more. Every three months I order a case from
Laree, 4 chocolate, 2 vanilla. I only buy Biotest or Champion if I'm
avoiding milk for a few weeks, because I prefer the taste of Bomber
Blend with milk.

Hope this helps.

Bombers  Blend is my absolute favorite choice for protein powder!
The taste is fantastic, blends easily, and one things for sure you can rest assured that you are getting what you paid for.
Dave and Laree define integrity and go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with your order.  Do they do that just to gain a customer base?
No, they do that because that is their character!
There are several top notch powders on the market and I would never say one was absolutely better than the other.
Put it this way I have had wholesale accounts with several companies for 18 years and Bomber's Blend is the only product I will gladly pay retail for!
Besides there is a mental edge that you can get just from the knowledge that you are taking a product that is  not just merely endorsed by the Bomber, it is his personnal product!
There is just something about seeing that container on the kitchen shelf with Dave's image on it that makes you want to break speed records to get to the gym!

Th only side effects are my hair has gotten more blonde and my eyebrows are so light that all that shows up in photos are two blue dots in the middle of my head....but that just might be me. ;)

too cute not to share.... last night I had my thick, ice cold Bomber Blend chocolate shake after my workout and my daughter (will be 3 in August) demanded a drink of it. Even though I wanted every drop for myself, I gave her a drink... she smiled, smacked her lips and said "mmmmm, good ice cweam". Future Bomber, for sure. If anyone still has doubts about the great taste of BB, take it from a toddler, who can't help but be honest about how foods taste. :o)

Bomber Blend is the best! I finally decided to try it; I went for the case of six on faith. It's delicious AND the packaging is definitely more inspirational than your typical protein powder. Laree was nice enough to throw in a magazine that had an interview with Dave. My husband read it and now wants to be just like him. Gotta love those Drapers!

I just started using Bomber Blend. It is great. I was using EAS (myoplex) for a while but got tired of choking it down and it was a pain trying to clean my water bottle out.. BB is not clumpy, it mixes well in a shaker with milk, it does great in a blender with a banana, and my water bottle rinses out rather nicely. It does not have a bad odor and it tastes good. With BB I will not have a problem with drinking it 2-3 times a day. I am going to try peanut butter in my next drink. Oh and its cheap compared to the other stuff

Okay, try this Bomber Blend recipe:

1/2 liter of water
2 scoops of Bomber Blend
1 banana
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 cup of non-fat yogurt
1/4 cup of walnuts
1 Brazil nut

Put it all in a blender, and visulize swirled peas.

Omega 3 EFA's and anti-oxidants in abundance.
Mark it Zero.

Hi all. New to the Forum, but long time reader. BB is definately one of the best I have used. Mixes great, both flavors are great. Just mix in a shaker and you're ready to go (I use water or soy milk). It's on the thin-side, meaning that you can probably use twice as much powder with the same amount of water.

Another great product is Grow! (Low carb version) by Biotest Labs. Actually, I think Grow! is a little/a lot better with taste and consistency. Check them out at www.biotestedge.com. Dont buy the product on their website, they are too expensive. Most supplement websites carry their products at a discount. Also, for those interested, check out their other supplements such at Mag 10, HotRox, Tribex, Surge, etc. All very good for the series lifter. No I dont work for them, lol.

Another product is call After Max by Optimum Nutrition. This is good because its an all in one and is meant to be taken right after a workout. It has high protein, plus high carb/sugar for post work anti-catabolic effects (you should know that post workout your body needs sugars for muscles growth, even if you are on a low carb diet), plus it has creatine. Enjoy.

Biotest.

They have quit selling through the retail channel so any Grow that is still being sold by the online stores is likely old product. the only way you can get Grow now is through their website. But the prices are similar to Bomber Blend.

Oops never mind, I see that they raised their prices again, a few weeks ago Grow was $23 for 2lbs. Now it is $47, yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good thing I well sticked with Bomber Blend

Alex - I have had no problems buying Grow! on vitaminshoppe.com. I admit I haven't bought any in 6 months because in my last order I stocked up quit a bit. However, I have not noticed an issue with the dates printed on the side of the containers. All dates were definately fairly current. I will check again tonight, but I am comfortable that the product is not old. And "ouch" is correct, all their products on the their website are far too expensive. But honestly, Grow! does taste the best to me. But like any thing else, if you drink something enough whehter it tastes good or bad it eventually taste good (if that makes any sense).

What percentage of the blend is whey protein concentrate and what percentage is calcium caseinate ?

I am debating on picking up an order, but I don t want to if it is 95% WPC and 5% CC.

Of the 38 grams of protein in a serving (36 grams in the chocolate), 38% is calcium caseinate and 62% is whey concentrate. Our goal was to mimic mother's milk, which is a higher percentage of casein, but casein's hard to work with and gets gummy at higher levels. This was where we found a balance between our formula goals and marketability in terms of the powder and subsequent mixing consistency.

Like many above I too have tried an uncountable number of different types of protien. I had never been a big vanilla fan until I tried BB vanilla. It is absolutely the best tasting and mixing protien I have ever tried. I also use optimum nutritions whey protien on occasion (like when I forget to reorder the BB and need some protien quick) its not too bad and its cheap but I think its a bit sparse on the protien per serving. I am not big on making supplement reccomendations since everyones tastes and needs are different but Bomber Blend is on the short list of things I make an exception for..

i did the autoship for over a year, one chocolate, one vanilla and Laree was great if I needed to switch one month to 2 of something. when i got sick my BB orders backed up on me, I still have 3 unopened ones in the basement so I'm not doing the autoship now, but I highly recommend it.

I'm another who has been on autoship for quite a while. It comes like clockwork and is a great convenience. I too eventually built up a few months reserve, but an easy email to Laree made it convenient to just put new shipments on hold for three months and have them restarted again in December. I'm another that recommends this method, and plan to stay with it as long as they offer it.
Still at it

Okay, try this Bomber Blend recipe:

1/2 liter of water
2 scoops of Bomber Blend
1 banana
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 cup of non-fat yogurt
1/4 cup of walnuts
1 Brazil nut

Put it all in a blender, and visulize swirled peas.

Omega 3 EFA's and anti-oxidants in abundance.

since this old thread showed up, I read (re-read?) it. Dan, do you use full fat yogurt now in this recipe?

That is correct. I also switched out the walnuts and Brazil nut. I use flax oil instead. Brewer's yeast and lecithin are included now.
Mark it Zero.

1T flax oil? how much brewer's yeast and lecithin? I'm planning on picking these two items up (per your suggestion) this weekend after payday.
BEAST MODE. NOW.

Does anyone do the auto ship? How about alternating each month? How convenient is that? $26 per tub is excellent and you don't even have to worry about forgetting.

I do the autoship, too, and alternate between flavors. It couldn't be easier.

Probably 2 tablespoons on the oil, 1/4 cup on the Brewer's yeast and a tablespoon on the lecithin.

Michelle, do NOT put 1/4 cup of Brewer's Yeast in your protein drink the first time. Start with 1/2 Tablespoon. I have worked up to one heaping Tablespoon of Brewer's Yeast. Brewer's Yeast has a very strong taste.

FYI: My BBBB

1/2 cup non fat milk
1/2 cup non fat yogurt
1-2 T. flax oil
1 T. lecithin
1 T. Brewer's Yeast
2 heaping scoops Bomber Blend
1 banana
1 cup frozen fruit (straberries, mixed berries, cherries)
I blend this then add as much crushed ice as the blender can take. I like it thick to eat with a spoon.
