I watched the first episode last night . . .

  • Quoting:
Get pumped for this survival of the fittest

https://youtu.be/fc8Qv5l3WrM

Regardless of who you are
There's only one rule:
Get physical and be the last one standing

100 competitors from all walks of life
Who has the ultimate physique?

The real survival of the fittest
Physical: 100 | 24 January, 2023, only on Netflix

I watched it dubbed in English
https://youtu.be/fc8Qv5l3WrM

The first episode in introducing all the 100 contestants, the first group of 50 had to see who could hang the longest from a hanging frame. Second continues with the other 50

The range is big guys to petite ladies.

Second episode was two pair up and fight to have possession of a medicine ball at the end of 3 mins, loser is out of the game. Two areas, one is sand and a pond the other is like playground.

Ugh, I couldn’t get through the second episode. Instead of dubbing in dialogue they should have had a John Madden type announcer do commentary.

I thought the dubbing was entertaining and the different talents of the contestants, like the skinny guy who choreographs zombie films.

Interesting in the 3rd episode it had several women fight men one on one for the medicine ball, and not all big muscular girls.

Just watched on Netflix in UK. Subtitles in English, which I way prefer to dubbing (or "dumbing", as I call it - countries that subtitle are way better at English that countries that dub).

This show is fun. So much good stuff comes out of Korea these days.

The crossing bridge with bags of sand team challenge was much like an American TV series Survivor with teams competing for rewards.

Funny how some got all excited seeing the protein powder supply area.

I had a friend who had a job writing for the original Ninja Warrior series that was imported from Japan. They took the original soundtrack, translated it, had my friend rewrite it for a U.S. audience, had that translated *back* into Japanese and dubbed over the original dialogue, then subtitled it. So you really never know.

BTW, this same friend made it through the early part of his television/movie writing career by working as a writer for a variety of "reality" TV shows.

We use dubbing a lot if they speak to fast and I'm a slow reader but for Physical: 100 it's better not dubbed, you get more of the excitement.

Pulling the Viking ship was great! Reminded me why I loved my job working as a labourer for a builder on detached condo sites. Often carried 8"X 8" wood post for high decks and heavy bins and pails as well as helping framers with team effort lifts like raising heavy wall frames and iron beams up into place.

The women in the series are cool.

I'm kind of biting my nails, as Netflix UK showed the first two teams pulling the boat, then said "new episodes next Wednesday". I really wonder how the lightest team is going to move that thing. It seems kind of against the spirit of the first episodes to just cull the lighter folks, which will include most of the girls.

By the way, a rugby guy was pulling 160kg of plates on a sled in the gym today, and it turned out he and everyone had watched it. Fast becoming a cult show.

It's a great show.

I lived in Japan for 4 years and loved it. Visited Korea and many other places as well. I'm a lifelong martial artist and I respect their culture, discipline, manners, hard work, etc.

The athletes are amazing and the show was done extremely well save the corny American dub over voices. Then again, they're funny too.

How can any fitness enthusiast, athlete, wannabe athlete, etc. NOT like this show?

It's more entertaining and impressive in my humble opinion than half of the stuff we watch in America as sports or "reality tv" competitions. The athletes are incredibly impressive!

I loved watching Pride FC and all of the cool and wacky shows in Japan back in 1999.

It's a CrossFitesque contest. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

It seems we need to think sustainable rather than obtainable.

Never taking so much from ourselves that we can't."

Really like the team with most of the girls.

How much did that Atlas rock weigh ? haven't watched that episode yet, the 4 trials are interesting, pushing the big boulders up hill

110 lb Atlas Rock, I thought the woman was using a bad technique trying to get it up.
