It's on Facebook. No information yet as to cause...but Doug Brignole has died. He was deep in preparation for a contest and was looking fantastic. I had just corresponded with him myself a couple days ago. He was very intelligent and very approachable. We've lost another good one....
"I'm in good shape for the shape I'm in."

"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man comes to the Father, but by me." John 14:6

.

Ugh, what is man “young people can die old people must die”. Doug Brignole was neither young nor old.

So much people talk about longevity as if we can do something about it. It seems we may increase our heath span but we can not increase our life span. We did not evolve because nothing + time + chance = nothing. We are created beings and someday maybe even today we will have to meet that perfect being for if He is not perfect He could not have created anything. This is just pure logic that we do not want to think about. We will not get a free pass or a wink for not honoring Him.

I’m shocked! Learned a lot from his book and videos, and loved his enthusiasm. May he Rest In Peace.

.

The exercises he promoted later in life will eventually become more and more popular because of the correct biomechanics principals that he taught. Less pain and more gain for bodybuilding and every day life for the aging.

Condolences to his friend Moe.

I was shocked and saddened to see this.

I did a show with Doug, about two years ago, paying tribute to Ric Drasin. Ric died in the summer of 2020.

RIP Doug. You will be remembered for your contributions to the understanding of body mechanics, your outstanding physique and your affable manner.

Those interviews were some of Ric's best. This was a surprise. Condolences to his family and friends. He was a wealth knowledge.

A lot of good people from the Iron Game have died over the last few years.

In September of 2019, I did a show with Ric Drasin in memory of Dr. Franco Columbu, who had just recently passed on.

A year later, Ric was gone. I spoke with Ric on his birthday, which was about six weeks before he died. He was dealing with an issue with his knee but in typical Ric fashion, he sounded good. He was upbeat.

We did a show with Doug Brignole in memory of Ric. Now, a bit more than a year later, Doug is gone.

Dave Draper passed last November 2021.

Dr. Ken Leistner left us in April of 2019.

Bill Pearl went home just last month; mid-September. As an aside, Doug trained at Bill Pearl’s gym in the early days of his training.

Part of the price for our tenure on this spinning ball of dirt - filled with dread and wonders, sorrow and joy - is that we must bear witness to the passing of friends, family and those we admire, until the bell tolls for us and we return to the mystery.

May those who have inspired us and given us so much rest in eternal peace. May we always remember them and be inspired by them.

Beautifully written, buddy. Thank you.

I can't find the show where you and Doug memorialized Ric. Can you provide a link?

Ugh. I always seem to have a problem pasting in links. Anyway, you can find it via Google by searching Cyinterview and Ric Drasin and Doug Brignole.

Thank you very much Al.

Here is the piece memorializing Ric. It was done with Doug and my colleague Chris:

Here is the memorial I hosted, with Ric and Chris, remembering Franco Columbu. Ric's first few comments, particularly in hindsight, are eerie and prescient:

On a more cheerful note Al, I don't know if you are a fight fan, but this is an interesting round table I hosted (I seem to recall you were doing some boxing training:)

There are many interesting conversations on the site. The majority, however, do not touch upon the iron game.
