Appreciate this is a bit of random question, but given the experience and backgrounds of many of you, I thought I would ask for some input.

I'll soon be doing a full check up as I haven't done one before and so I want to see if there are any specific lab tests that I should request.

The "speak with your physician" is not applicable as they don't won't do any testing since nothing is wrong with me. But I think this is something that's important to do, and I should have done earlier.

I'll be doing the testing at a private clinic. They have a bunch of different alternatives and add-ons so I'm interested in understanding what are the main things that I should look for.

I have been looking at this [1] from Peter Attia.

A very open ended question depending on personal and family health history. Of course a CBC and metabolic panel - thyroid - liver - B12 and iron - testosterone panel - magnesium - and on and on, I think I read an article on T Nation that offered a pretty complete list and the why behind them that was pretty good. Annual blood work is probably a good thing to have done just to see what changes over time.

It was good to read that article, I've looked in a few places, (now entering 3rd year with a lot of Bio's taken now in anticipation of medical pathway), and I've not read a good description like that for BUN.

I like how the article takes weight training into account for what may or may not be something to be concerned with for bloodwork.

I just had some done a few months ago. I will look it up tomorrow. We have a lab in our city that is a part of a large hospital that does the tests very cheaply

I'd just get tests where you can actually do something positive to change them if necessary, such as blood lipids (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL), Vit D, HbA1c and fasting glucose.

I wouldn't pay for any tests unless you have particular symptoms suggesting something is wrongz e.g. Tired all the time get haematinics (b12, folate, ferritin, iron) and thyroid function test (TSH and Free T4). Your doctor should do these test for free if there are symptoms (at least in the UK)

You could get testosterone measured, but unless your planning on going on TRT for the rest of your life there's not much point.
