I'm flattered and humbled by your comments Dan. That said, let me say that I stray from the right course from time to time and for the most part, I am wrong in doing so. (What can I say? I like shiny objects too.)

At a certain point in both time, age and experience (both good and bad) you know what you can do safely and productively. You tend to, like me, look at what you could do at one time (likely years ago) and what you would like to do because someone you like wrote an interesting article about a new or different exercise program.

Like life, when it comes to training we lose sight of our needs and just focus on our wants. Which is a waste of time and effort.

To digress a bit, what DJ said is true, the Humane Burpee is a good way for most mature trainee's to establish a foundation, or to simply maintain a decent amount of strength and mobility to take on life on life's terms. It's also a good way for tyro's to start too*.

*While most trainee's can do push-ups, not all can. Previous injuries may have a lingering effect. In that case I would suggest that the KB clean and press may be a better choice than the push-up/TRX row combo, and, of course, YMMV..
Mark it Zero.

  • Dan John Said:

Excellent advice for the mature. I feel like I am watching for and filling leaks in my dam. With age has come more patience and calm. Everything seems to be moving along well and then I find another leak. I find a good, challenging regressive exercise and have the joy of conquering it only to find another leak. It is a moving target and I know the dam will eventually burst but the journey is fascinating.

Golden!
And mention couldn't go to a more deserving guy, no question.

I sure do like it when people create a video seated in front of their book shelf.
In some ways it introduces you to them before the talking even starts.

Yeah . . . youse two . . . the blind leading the blind, ya buggers.
Life's too short to worry about longevity.
