Thomas Sean Connery, a pioneering bodybuilder from Scotland, died at age 90. I know he got a job working in South Pacific after competing in the first Mr. Universe.

I don't know what happened to him after he got out of the lifting world. If anyone knows if he had any kind of career, please let me know.

Yes,Sad day all round.

I crossed paths with Sean Connery, literally, in August 1994, outside Harrods, London, when I was backpacking around Great Britain.

I will never forget this moment. I was crossing the street towards Harrods & he had just hopped out of a passenger door & started walking away from the famous Shopping Precinct......towards me. Our Shoulders practically touched as we passed on by.

I knew straight away it was him from about 15m back. He would have been 64 then & he was still in superb physical condition. You don't realise how tall he was until you saw him in the flesh. His posture was very erect & he was still broad shouldered.

I would have had a look of amazement & awe on my face & I will never forget this, as we locked eyes, Sean gave me a nod & a smile as if to say...…"Yes, it is really me."

My 13 year old Son is big into the Daniel Craig, James Bond movies so as a treat, about 5 months back, I bought the entire 25 Disc James Bond series on Blue Ray. Each Saturday night, my Son & I have been watching the 25 James Bond movies together, from most recent to oldest. Last night was to " To Russia with love." That movie had extra significance.

A great actor for sure.

Too bad he tried to justify slapping women.

Man, it’s kind of sad, but also kind of makes you just want to grin thinking about these guys like Connery and how they moved through the world. That war-bred generation was one of a kind, straddling the old world and the new world with a kind of working-class swagger and grace.

When Clint Eastwood goes, it’ll really be the end of an era.

An absolute titan of cinema, in some if my all time favourite movies.

My sister spoke to him on the phone when working at the DVLA, he sent her a signed picture after she helped sort his driving licence out.
