Hi, folks, today's the official release day of Dan's new book, Attempts.

Here's the OTP book page, including audio, ebook and paperback. The first chapter is under the "Excerpts" tab, as well as in the audio sample window at the top of the description.

There are 10 copies of the ebook set up for borrowing, but those are "checked out" at the moment. Look again in a few days if you want to read it, but money's an issue.

Here's the Amazon link:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D71DZJS

Audible is in process, waiting on their review.

Bought it. I didn't even bother to read what it's about. I'm interested anyway.

Bought the ebook from OTP. Apart from the great price and service, what they have done with the learning library is wonderful and I think they deserve support.
Thanks to everyone who makes this forum so useful and such a good place to be.

Damn! I didn't think of that and impulse-purchased the e-book from the AMZ. :-(

Thanks, folks. We appreciate the sentiment of buying direct, and also value the downloadable digital option. But we make money regarding of where you buy. It's a bit bigger via OTP for sure, but getting free prime shipping or having all of your ebooks in your Kindle library is also important. We totally get that!

Just finished the book. I loved it!

Now I have a couple of weird wardrobe questions: what's that magical brand that makes unwrinkable polo shirts? And what's a workout pair of jeans?

By the way, the chapter about eulogy REALLY resonated with me. It's, by FAR, my favorite written piece of your body of work.

Enjoying this greatly. But so far I have a couple of questions...

1. What’s the story behind frogs turning into toads (eating the biggest first, leaptoading etc...) over the years? Did you get hate mail from an enraged French chef?

2. How does one floss while driving to the gym? Sounds like a strange risk-benefit ratio to me!

1. Oui.

2. I use floss sticks! I don't use strings.

Regarding the "hang for thirty seconds, then pull up"... Would it be too crazy doing squats and presses in the same fashion?

I know, I know... but I'm a sucker for weird, new things.

I think Dan has actually mentioned doing that with squats. I supposed it depend on the weight - I don't find it difficult.

Not sure if there'd be much advantage to presses, really.

If you pause either in the hole on squats or on your chest for bench I can verify it is brutal. Don’t think you’d make it to thirty seconds with a decent weight though. Also holding your last rep of the day at lockout on deadlifts until your grip fails is all
kinds of fun too.

I just bought the book and started the Kindle text-to-speech while I'm doing some stuff.

I'm just barely into it, I want to say we write similarly DJ, and all I can do while I am reading/listening to the jumble of the text-to-speech; (well fill in explitives copiously as sentence after sentence gets jittered out loud)

*innerchuckle* phaq, yeahhh........*innerchuckle* phaq, yeah.....

This kind of reading is where common sense and boots on the ground knowledge and experience and education++ all come together and it just soaks in. You feel like you're listening to your smart buddy that you respect and you understand so well.

Thanks DJ and Laree

Thank you. I think the audio should be ready soon as I don't know about texts to speech.

Common sense is a tough thing to learn.

Really enjoying this, Dan. It is my morning reading material while I'm on the "throne".

The chapter about Tony Robbins on the Pleasure/Pain of goal attainment REALLY clicked. I adapted it and made an actual matrix for my cross country kids to fill out for their "big, scary" season goal. Some of the introspection I've seen in the hidden boxes (Pleasure of Failing and Pain of Succeeding) has been illuminating.

EDIT: Here's the Google Doc I made. Feel free to copy for your own use.
