There's a gym literally 200 yards from my home that is very lightly used. The gym membership is $65 month. My former Gold's membership was only $20 month.

But now due to the virus and just a feeling of building something again. I'm thinking of getting 3 New Selectorized machines for my garage. It would be in November when I am ready.

I've got literally a ton of dumbbells. Thinking about just opening up the garage door and training everyday.

*A ton of dumbbells and Flat Bench (already have)
*Buy New Selectorized BodyMaster Preacher Curl
*A New Selectorized Horizontal Lat Pull
*A New Selectorized Bench Press Machine

I'm tempted to get that more expensive gym membership thus still mulling it over which I want to do. But I found it funny when someone said about me that I was practicing Social Distancing long before the virus ever came about. And in that vein I like the idea of a Home Gym again.

Why a single exercise piece of equipment?

Is this the Body Masters Preacher Curl you are considering?

There's a private gym down the street and I had a 3 weeks free trial but $80CDN about $58US is a bit over budget.

I went at 7am and had the place to myself, the main thing was a squat rack and a standing calves machine with 600lb load. I worked really hard in there. There was other equipment I could test myself with.

I was considering the body master preacher curl machine. A friend has the Bowflex machine and he really likes it and he takes that one to the limit of its 410 lb. maximum. But now Bowflex is NOT available while most people now train from home.

It's tempting to get the membership down the block assuming they are Open for business. But I really am doing everything not to get the virus. Thus home training plus riding my bike (got tired of running) are the new thing, and a must as I want to get in even better shape.

I would like to get a New Bowflex machine but they are sold out (and probably will be for a while). Thankfully I never got rid of my 2K lbs of dumbbells.

I agree with your thoughts on doing all you can to avoid unnecessary exposure to COVID.

You can make so much progress using the tools you already have and can add to over time.

If you have that many dumbbells, you could do a lot of different routines - until the Bowflex became available, if that is the machine you really want.

Dave has an interesting (advanced) routine for dumbbells:

On Dittilo2 blog there are many complete routines using only dumbbells.

The Good Brothers springs to mind because it is an athletic type routine:

(Caveat: omit wrestler's bridge; you could do 2-DB pullover on your bench)

Weider System Dumbbell Training Course:

On archive.org there is the Bob Hoffman's Simplified System of Dumbbell Training:

(Caveat: I would not do dumbbell punching in Routine 1; substitute a 2-DB overhead tricep extension).

From the Reg Park Forum, you could also do routines by Reg Park:

Or this one, although I see no need to do DB squats standing on a bench especially if you rise up on your toes - more sensible and safer to do them on the ground:

Gold Stuff. Thanks.

Yes I do have that many dumbbells. Interesting story how I got them. I called some Ad and never got an answer and kept calling. The guy had been on vacation (why put in an add right when you go on vacation is beyond me). Thus I was the only Live call he got. I talked him down from $1K to $500. This was for 20 dumbbells and a Super Heavy Duty rack. The problem that I soon realized was they could not fit in my car. Fortunately his friend had stopped by and for $20 he hauled them in his truck 1/2 way across town. Anyways, dumbbells are great. Thanks.

Agree you got a great deal and have great negotiation skills.

One other caveat, the DB pullover is better performed lying on the bench instead of across the bench and dropping the hips, as per Reg Park pictured.

There was a good article on Ditillo2 explaining why; at this Link

That looks like a good program, maybe add some barbell squats.

jp92 Nice Links & Photo.

I never thought about doing squats with dumbbells. If I used my wrist straps to lock in the dumbbells then I could concentrate on the squat, that could work.

Sounds like that DB deal was meant to be!

Belt squats with a heavy dumbbell aren't too hard to set up.
