Giants...ughhhh…. So I’m doing what Aronald said, keep you body guessing. 2 weeks of Tri-Con’s were good, now off to Giants. These baby’s hurt ...lol…. I did legs yesterday with seated leg press. 5 sets of 10 per “Giant” set. Basically, after every 10 reps change your foot position, do 10 more. Did 3 “giant” sets…. Painfull ... Did chest also. Used the seated chest fly, just moved the seat up / down to hit the group from a different angle…. Anyone ever do Giants? Any results?

My take on "giant sets" is a tad different than yours. A giant set for me is 4-5 different movements for the same bodypart. Each circuit is one "giant" set. For example - for biceps:

Barbell Curl - 10 reps
Dumbbell Alternate Curl - 10 reps
Preacher Curl - 10 reps
Concentration Curl - 10 reps

This requires prior set up of all weights and equipment. Movements are done for the prescribed number of reps, one right after another until a full circuit has been done...then, there is 30 to 60 seconds rest. This is one set.

Different application of the same thought.

same thing, I did arms today and bicepts were kind of like you described. Just leg press is sort of limited, but changing your foot position changes the angle, hits the muscle group differently.

but 60 second rest... na, ain't no way I could pull that off after 50 reps....

A true giant set is exactly what Wicked described. Different exercises for the same bodypart with no or limited rest between them. Changing the angle is cool but it's not what is known as a giant set.

I've been doing Giants for years and did not even know it. Hmmm.

But I also mix up everything by switching back a forth between lifting and cardio. Shock everything.

Like most training approaches, they can be wonderful when appropriately applied. Hey, is there an app that guides you to using words that begin in "ap"? Oh My God . . . it was an AP word giant set. But yeah, they're just a progression from same muscle super sets to tri set to yeah, they're fun! The article arranged the Sergio-demonstrated chest exercise photos in a circle with little arrows pointing the way through. Oh come on! I know he didn't really train like that, but who cared . . . who cares! We had a great time, and I think I still could have just that today if I chose to.

The first time I did a giant set was in my Dad's garage with my cousin. We followed a Sergio Oliva chest layout and ran, literally, into the house after to view the pec pump we got from it.

Wunnerful!

Please do feel free to Enjoy Your Lifting.

Giant sets can be near impossible to do in commercial gyms.

Yes, super sets are hard enough in a commercial gym. Tri sets are almost impossible. Giant sets? Forget it! LOL!!!
