This time of the year is the worst for me. It starts getting cold around here, and I guess my body thinks I’m a bear, and need to beef up for the winter. I’ve gone from 183 to 190 in like 3 weeks because of bad eating. This time of the year when we get busy, fast food or take out more often, cookies, brownies, candy… UGHAAAA…. OK, enough of that, back to my diet, healthy eating.

Yea, it’s December, but summer if right around the corner. So I need to do a reset, get back on my diet, summer bod 2020… who’s with me...lol

I no longer go far off my regular diet anymore. At my age, losing fat has become very difficult. In my 20's and 30's, I could just cut out all sugar and flour products and the fat would melt. That doesn't happen anymore. So, I eat pretty clean all year round. Bulking over in winter is bogus. It's just an excuse to be sloppy with my diet. However, after a near death situation about 10 years ago, I realized an occasional dish of ice cream, some pasta, pizza, etc. is okay. Can't eat it after I buy the farm.

My metabolism was always high, close to racing actually back then and right up till around mid-50's. All I had to do was cut out dairy and within a month, there it went.

I miss that something awful !
Life's too short to worry about longevity.

Bulking during the winter is unnatural, and personally one of my favorite misnomers that we humans repeat and believe. Animals lose weight during the winter while food is scarce and they are hibernating. Animals emerge from the winter leaner and spend the Spring, Summer, and especially the Autumn (when the final harvest of the year matures) eating and putting on weight for the upcoming period of scarcity (Winter months). It's interesting to note how far out of touch with the cycle of the Earth that humanity has become as we over-indulge during the Winter and then scramble to lose weight for the beach and pool seasons.
