This isn't exercise related, but please bear with me.

I'd heard in an interview that Mr. John's worked on something about the Beowulf poem, and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get my hands on it.

I'm going to have to retype it. It's very good...

I'd look forward to it! Just picked up Tolkien's translation after reading his "Monsters and Critics" essay not long ago. Not sure what it is about that old story, but hell if there isn't something durable to it that I can't put my finger on.

Tolkien, among others, was a major resource for me on my work.

Dan, can you recommend a version of Beowulf in modern English?

Burton Raffel (I hope I have the spelling right).

I wasn't a fan of Seamus Heaney's...it was amazing, yes...but Burton's version sticks to the original and, just my opinion, works clearly for me.

Thanks, Dan.

And btw I put two books from your list on my Christmas wish list (Hamlet and Don Quixote). I am looking forward to reading them.

Dear Dan,
I wanted to say thank you.
I've read Hamlet twice now. The first time through I could mainly follow the plot but only the second time I got more and more the depth of the play. Fortunately there is so much helpful material online. However, I will read this play many more times and I am sure I will notice everytime something else.
Thanks to you the Shakespeare bug has bitten me and I am reading now Macbeth.

Just read the Seamus Heaney and really enjoyed it. To be fair, this is the only version I've read in 20 years.

What a testament to the importance of grip strength.

Slightly off topic, but there's a funny comedy on BBC Two at the moment called "Upstart Crow" about Shakespeare. The "actor Wolf Hall" in yesterday's episode made me laugh! (If you ever watched Wolf Hall, you'll see why.) Quite a lot of references to current issues in UK, e.g., public transportation, immigration / Brexit, Red Nose day, etc.

It may not be your cup of tea, but I thought I'd mention it.
