I'm sick again for the second time in a few weeks. Never happened to me before, usually only sick once a year or so!

Must be new fatherhood and busy work and training on top of it all. Probably did too much in Monday's workout too.

Felt awful yesterday and slightly better today. May train light at lunchtime if I feel like it just to get moving.

Wednesday

Played with my new 16kg comp bell last night, though still feel rubbish.

Played with long cycle and rep jerks, presses and push presses

then did 20/20 snatches nice and easy. could've easily done 100 reps but wuold've been a sweaty, snotty mess by the end.

Luke, what does "long cycle" mean? Forgive me if it's a term I should know...
Our tuition was received in the cold school of experience.

means you do a clean before each jerk, if you said jerks that would mean clean the bell once then jerk jerk jerk etc

Thursday

16kg GS style... 6 min sets switching hands at 3min

6 min OALC 25/30

6 min snatch 25/28 I think. Some half snatches, had to put bell down twice. Arms nearly exploded.

Friday

Still got cold but feel ok in myself

Double 24kg Clean and press 3 x 2-3-5

16kg OAJ 6 minute set. 35L/36R

Somehow the bicep pump from this is incredible! Feel like my arms are going to drop off.

Monday - Still a bit sick but getting over it.

Double 24kg, 2 clean 1 press 3 squat x 10

16kg GS Snatch 6 mins, switching hands every 10 reps. 90 reps.

Way more reps than I'd planned. Just wanted to go the whole 6 mins without stopping. Started too fast with 20 reps in first min.

Thanks, think bub is getting better. Wife still feeling bad hope she's a bit better tomorrow, hate having to go to work and not being there to help.

Realised I've had my 32 over six months now and if I'd been using it more I'd probably be a lot stronger by now.

Going to take it to work with me tomorrow and alternate between the double kb combo and 32kg swings.

Playing with the 16 is fun but maybe not that effective. Brought it home and will do some long sets with it when I have time at home.

Probably change my mind again next week...

But as long as I'm training I'm happy.

Took my 32kg to work today. Absolutely smashed my thumb between the handle and the milk crate it was in the boot of my car in. Big gouge out the side of my right thumb and bruised / achy hand. Plan was heavy swings tomorrow but will have to see.

Thursday

32kg one arm swings 20 x 8 on the minute (switching hands each set)

Thumb sore but could work through it ok.

Oh also pressed the 32kg once left and right just to test. Went up pretty easy! (Double 24kg pressing helped?) Stopped before I got carried away.

Yeah trying. Though may have to drop back and work back up again. These swings are killing my hands. Might be the bell. Has a very slick yet textured finish. Chalk helps but only so much.

One round every 90 seconds for 20 minutes (30 sec rounds) = 14 rounds!

This was a killer.

Not sure where to go from here next time.

Friday

Third day of my third cold in six weeks!

Don't FEEL bad just snotty etc.

Double 24kg 1 clean, 3 press, 2 front squat x 10 rounds.

...the original combo I believe. Felt good and less overall fatigue. Took my time and sat between rounds.

30 double presses is not bad. Now for a weekend of rest and eating.

Wondering whether to take my 24s home from work and just leave the 32 to train with for a while. Only working four days next week then on holidays for four days.

Monday

Going to be hard to train at work for a while. Its time for the annual local ad agency band competition so we have a month to practice at lunchtimes. Will train on any days we don't and will try and train at home after my boy goes to bed on days that I can't. Focusing on swings for a while to keep things simple. Got my 32 at work and 24s at home.

Monday

At work: 32kg swing 10-15-25

At home: 24kg swing 10-15-25-50, 10-15-25-50, 10, 15, 25.

Also 2 x 2-3-5 presses and some single goblet squats between sets.

Yep, the battle of the adbands. Its great but it's ruining my workout time!

Tuesday

No time to train at work or at home and too stormy out to go play with kettlebells. Remembered my doorway pullup bar and did 2-3-5-2-3-5 chin ups at about 10.30pm.

Not done any chin ups or pullups for a while so nice that I still can.

No but for the wrong reasons. Been on holiday for a few days and didn't take a kettlebell with me.

I have a teething baby and an exhausted wife at home ...and lunchtimes at work are taken up by band practice, so training is almost out for now.

Will do some swings at home when I can.

Yeah about 20 mins.

Didn't really warm up just farmer walk with the 24s round the patio. Not much rest between sets. Then straight into the snatches.

This was about 9.45 at night, out in the cold. So not ideal.

Struggling at the moment, lunchtimes are out and have to wait til bub is asleep and we've eaten and everything else is taken care of ...then have to be conscious of noise etc. Plus bub is teething!

Maybe I should be doing some sort of easy strength 10 mins a day type thing with double bell presses and front squats and heavy swings.

If I could do something quick that doesnt even break a sweat I could probably do it most days.

Yeah trying. Few days between some sessions but it's not the end of the world.

I've actually taken a couple of weeks off to hopefully give us a chance to get used to things at home. Baby's five months old today so that's five months mummy hasn't really had a break either. Been exhausted with teething and he started waking up during the night and not going back down. Until now he's been sleeping all night since he was a few weeks old.

Still don't have much extra time for training and it still is low down on the list of priorities.

I've just made some space in the spare room and out down a few metres of those thin foam mats. So now I have somewhere for pushups and some getups with my 16 (don't want to damage the wood flooring underneath with a heavy bell). Going to chill and hopefully have some time with my wife now but at least the spare room is ready when I get five.
