It's my birthday (45) so bodyweight check. 162.0. Ugh. I checked back to last year, and I don't think I took a measurement on my birthday, but 162.8 and 162.6 the two days either side, so weight unchanged over the past year. On the plus side, hopefully that means I have reset my body from its old setpoint of high 170s-low 180s to low 160s. On the minus side, I had hoped to be about five pounds lighter by this time. Oh well.

Ha -- thanks PP!

Probably want to settle somewhere between 155-160, or my highly scientific goal of "as heavy as I can be while still seeing at least four abs" :-D

LOLOLOLOL this workout is way different with front squats; I usually re-learn this at least once a year. Shoulda prolly just started with 4s and stayed there. Getting outta bed tomorrow should be fun.

Da front squat takes it all, the looser has to faaallll--- ABBA- sing along...in the shower and the rest of the day will be a walk in the park.

Stellar WO. Back squat is missing and side squat is not yet invented. Only front squat rules. The ominous August.

That is a noble weight goal -worth all suffering.

In perspective: it is like saving for the retirement. It just needs to be done however unfathomable it seems that time will come. And when lucky and one is still dancing, then, looking back one can be thankful for all time& effort invested.
In a macro perspective nothing matters, in a micro perspective all matters.The art is to live in the void in between.

Me too, Brian. Under 155, I'm weak and look emaciated. Over 160, the abs are blurred.

Lotsa front squats yesterday. Hope you're able to walk this morning.
Be strong. Be in shape. Be a man among men, regardless of your age or circumstances.

Thanks Al and PP -- surprisingly, no soreness this morning!

And the front squat does indeed rule, at least for me.

Finally, yeah, I had a scale goal of 150 for awhile but when I was down in the 155 and under range, I was just scrawny. I naturally carry a lot of weight below the waist, so if the scale weight gets too low, my upper body just sorta disappears and I get lost swimming around in shirts that should otherwise fit fine. :-D

I'm doing 5 x 5, 5 x 5 instead of 10 x 5 because it's easier to get two 10-minute workouts in than one 20-minute one, and it also seems quite a bit easier. Same volume, less effort. Wonder what the differences in effect are. . .

A vacation! From training! LOL. It's been awhile since I went somewhere I didn't have access to anything in the way of weights (thanks COVID), but I restrained myself from booking a one-week membership at a gym in London, which was a good idea since there is no way I would have had time to use it. One great thing I noticed is that most kids' playgrounds have a nice little "adult play area" as my daughter called it, a/k/a a parcourse. So I did a few dips and pullups and slant board situps maybe three times, and one day I swam a mile or so in chilly waters (68 degrees) at my favorite spot in London -- the Hampstead Heath swimming ponds.

That was tough; didn't squat much in August.

I'm giving a try to 100 pushups a day in September as part of a series of x for 30 days-type stuff to end the year.
