Lunchtime 2-h swings -- 5 x 15 OTM (24k)

Evening strength aerobics -- 10 minutes OTM (24k)

Gonna have to do something about the KB handle here -- very humid - not sure I can snatch it productively without chalk, which I don't have. We'll see. May need to do some 5/5 OTM days.

Got three swims in the ocean today. Water temp 61 degrees F, which is 16 C for my antipodean readers. Bracing.

Nice work there.

I got used to a slippery bell. The 16kg I started with has a fat grip with enamel coating. When I got sweaty it would just slide in my grip. Probably not possible with a 24kg

Nice to be able to swim in the ocean, good on ya. Too many people live near it and never get in.

Evening 2-h swings 24k x 15 OTM (5 minutes)

37 degrees (F) this morning, with surf temps having dropped to 60 even. Very bracing, but sadly, the remainder of the day got away from me, so I only got to swim once. That's why we have to do things first thing in the morning, I guess -- it's the only part of the day you can fully control.

At times it feels like the day is over before it even started...but I must say, lately I braced myself a couple of times and prioritized something that "I wish/need for myself" and somehow it squeezed itself well into the schedule and I noticed it created more balance in me. I promised myself to listen to such nudges.

Don't think I've had a day totally off since I came home, so it was time.

DL -- went to a clean grip and worked up to a heavy single of 325. That ain't much, but it's only 5-10 pounds short of double BW and I haven't touched anything heavier than a 24 for most of the past three months. Am going to run a cycle or 10 (depending) of Justa's singles routine, so will use this heavy single for my baseline for now.

While I was doing swings at lunch, my son was playing in the same room. He is 7 and has probably seen me do swings a minimum of 200 times in his life. For some reason, today, on the very first hike pass, he said: "Dad, are you putting that in your buttcrack? Doesn't it hurt? It's made of metal!"

Am going to give a try to four-day-a-week training. I tolerate six days quite well when I am only using a single 24, and while I don't feel beat up or hurt or anything, I'm wondering if six days with the 28/28s and the DLs and whatnot is too much. Will give it a (short) month and see. Will try for swings and DLs 4x/week each and snatches and long cycle 2x/week each.

You will feel what's right. If it looks too much, adjust, do not struggle the whole month. I guess you know it.

Athletes just train and compete and try to stay healthy. That is their job. They get payed for it.

Leading normal life means a certain stress that withdraws funds from the recovery account. The ambitious curious troll will always demand more, better, longer. I ususally bribe him with more fun.

Normally there is a rest day between snatch day and armor-building day during the week, but tomorrow is supposed to be a blizzard and I have to eat cheeseburgers on armor-building day (the charcoal grill and blizzards don't get along). :-)

Edit to note today is day 1 of Lent, and this year I'm giving up sweets. I'm not a Catholic, I just find it useful to have a period to do these things in. Usually I give up either booze or sweets, and this year, it's the turn of sweets.

Still working on what works best for me; feeling stiff from all the grinding in the armor-building complex, despite increased stretch time, so that's probably about it for that!

Very lucky on the vaccine front. To be sure, only older and more vulnerable folks are eligible for formal appointments right now. We heard through word of mouth that at some centers, if one showed up at the end of the day at a vaccination center, there may be "extra" doses -- like folks who did not show up for their appointments. In that case, because of the nature of the vaccine, once it has been defrosted, if it is not used the same day it must be thrown out. Since no one wants to waste doses, some places allow an "overflow" line of hopefuls. I spent an afternoon sitting in a line in a lawn chair and lucked out that they had enough "extra" doses that day to accommodate me...
