My personal challenge is to Front Squat 100kg (220lbs) before the end of this year. My bodyweight is around 74-76kg (163-167lbs), I'll post more accurate weigh-ins on each update.

During the spring, I got very close (97.5kg) and I've tried 100kg couple of times, but it has always avoided me. I'm sure this is easy peasy for all the young studs on the forum, but for me this is a very challenging lift, both mentally and physically.

I'm now doing Dan John's EES/40 Days template and I hope this time I will nail it!

Good luck, man! 100kg isn't that a huge of a leap from 97.5. You'll nail it.

Thanks, Matt! I haven't done 97.5kg in months, but it shouldn't be too big a leap. Due to all kinds of things happening, I wanted to pick an EOY that I have some hope of achieving.

Once I'm close to the numbers I did previously on EES, I think it's more of a confidence thing ("Crikey, there's 100kg on this bar..."). If I drink few cups of coffee before the attempt, I might do it this time around!

If I had couple of buddies cheering next to me in the garage, that might help too!

Never actually used the word "crikey" but definitely have had similar thoughts.

Not sure where I picked it up! I think it's an Australian expression.

Anyway, I did a 90kg Front Squat today.

90kg x 2 today. The first rep was pretty strong and crisp, the second one bit of an ugly grind with some forward lean.

77.5kg x 5 today. Close to 5RM, I might be able to do 80kg x 5 on a good day. I believe once I can do a solid 80kg x 5, I have some hope of doing a single with 100kg.

Mission accomplished! Got a solid 100kg x 1 today, followed by 102.5kg x 1 with some forward lean. Both are lifetime PRs.

In my previously attempts with 100kg I lost the deep breath and hesitated for a moment before doing the lift. This time around I took a deep breath and went for it while staying tight. I just need to improve the torso angle a bit more during the ascent, i.e., keep the chest up and elbows high all the way through, otherwise it can bite your lower back. Very happy I made it, I wasn't feeling confident at all whether I would make the lift today or perhaps later during the EES/40 Days program.

Thanks for reading and your support.
