Dave used Rheo's recipe a lot when he was younger, although contrary to rumors you may have heard, he didn't use Rheo's protein other than a couple of times.

** Alert ** This is a WEIGHT GAIN recipe; if you're calorie sensitive do not try this at home!

1 pint of heavy whipping cream
4 scoops of vanilla Bomber Blend
4 tablespoons of sugar
3 tablespoons of peanut butter

Stir, whip or blend. The more you blend it, the more whipped the cream. Knowing this, you can adjust to your desired texture from creamy pudding-like to a full-on whipped mousse.

Low-carbers could use this as a dessert treat by replacing the sugar with Splenda. Remember, though, it's still ultra-high calorie. You may want to freeze this into smaller chunks in ice trays so you don't get carried away with the treats.

You can also switch to chocolate protein, or replace the peanut butter with cinnamon and nutmeg for an egg-nog-like taste.

I tested it with Bomber Blend (but didn't eat it as I ain't on a weight-gain plan!). This may or may not work with a different protein you have at home, depending mainly on how well the protein mixes and if it needs more moisture to dissolve.

With no desire to cast anything but a good light on Bomber Blend, Dr. Randy Strossen's "Just Protein" would kick ass using that recipe.
Mark it Zero.

Dave and Ray Raridon (founder of NSP, now deceased) were making their own protein powder at that time, although as it turned out Rheo did a better job of marketing off Dave's name than Dave did. :~)

That's funny I have been buying Dave's protine longer then I thought. I have used the pudding mix useing Blairs and Ironmind protine. I didn't notice any difference in taste. I'm always on a weight gain plan. I forced fed up to 235 lbs once didn't like it. I have stayed at 200 for so long I forget how long.

I'll stick with Bomber Blend, thanks; I don't care how close Just Protein might be to Rheo's original. JP doesn't do good things in my belly. In fact, it does nearly everything possible just to get out.

Using BB and Splenda, this looks like a good recipe to me.

I've adjusted my Bomber Blend Bomb:
2 scoops of BB
1/2 liter of water
1 banana
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 cup of non-fat yogurt
2 tablespoon of Udo's choice

Steve I have noticed the same thing with JP since I've gotten older. In fact if I use cows milk, I buy the lactaid milk. This is the main reason I have gone to goats milk. A little more pricey but worth it in the long run. We humans have been drinking goats milk a lot longer then cows.

Does anyone have a recipe for a pudding-based mix that would work well as a 400-cal lower carb meal? Perhaps the heavy cream, BB, water, and splend only?

I was just thinking about eating this right now....Judge's post inspired me the other day (about Skip LaCour's eating habits), so I thought I'd give the 'paste' a try.

Oh, one more thing...anyone try a 'rice pudding' kind of deal? May sound gross, but perhaps it would work: BB, water, cooked brown rice, splenda, perhaps something else, served chilled....thoughts?

I think that that would probably work into a nice Rice Pudding without all that richness and fat like the one I make at my bakery:-)May need to use some skim milk in there though..

As CB said, Ron Kosloff (current owner of NSP) still sells the original formula after 30 years.

The brand I use is Nancy's from Oregon. In fact, I use the organic non-fat vanilla. And it's more like 2 cups a day. As for the why, that's an additional 24 grams of protein, a slug of live cultures, and a generous amount of calcium.

I'm thinking a couple of eggs may work too. That's another 12 grams of protein.

We'll see.

Jon,

I often have Skip's "pudding" for my late night snack. If I am not too worried about cals, I mix it with half and half rather than water. It's really good!

In India, the rice pudding is a staple diet of the wrestlers who want to add bodyweight fast. Also it gives quick energy as well as long lasting energy too. Quick due to its sugar content and long term due to the rice factor.
The rice is boiled in milk and when the rice becomes tender, sugar is added. It is then boiled for a couple of minutes more and during that time raisins, chopped almonds, walnuts, cherries et. are added. Dry fruits and nuts can be added as per the availability and choice. Saffron leaves are also added to give flavour and colour and also for its testesterone enhancing effect.
I believe that a punch of the best protein blend like the BB could work like magic. It can be added at the final stages.
It is then set to cool.
Hope I could give you a description of what we have here.

No, Vince wasn't involved in the original venture, just Dave and Ray. Dave didn't really know Vince very well. Ray would have hooked up with Vince after Dave dropped out, which would have been after they lost all their initial start-up money. I have the impression that didn't take too long.

Hmm, If you want the cals, cook the brown rice in milk as mentioned...a lot of milk and you would be pretty close to having "kheer", an indian rice pudding. In fact, for one cup of brown rice, I'd suggest at 5-6 cups of milk at least (for a white rice) and 7+ for brown rice, bring to a boil and cook slowly after that. Not all of the milk will be absorbed of course but you'd be surprised. Sweetened with splenda, a teaspoon of vanilla and a few dashes of cinnamon and/or nutmeg and then chilled would be delish! YOu could mix in a scoop of protein or two in after but I would do that just before serving.
