Amazon has Intervention in stock and is shipping. Thanks Laree. I should get my copy tomorrow.

  • Laree Said:
I'll set that up today. It'll take a couple of weeks for them to receive and process inventory.

any plans for a pay download version? That's my format of choice vs buying the dvds, waiting for shipment, and then ripping them into electronic format and then archiving the discs.

I was looking at this yesterday and would like to get this going. When you buy a video download, what format does it come in? Does it play automatically like inserting a dvd, or does it come in mpeg4 format or what? Thanks for the guidance!

Hi Laree

When purchasing a video online, it is usually downloaded as a file e.g. mp4 or .avi, the file can then be burned onto a dvd or watched on a pc, ipad or whatever. You can also rent video files, which are streamed and start right away, but are not stored for further viewing. I have bought and downloaded a few of Steve Maxwells mobility videos from his website, it may be worth checking out his site to see how he does it, or maybe getting in touch if you know him.

Best of luck.

personally format doesn't matter much to me as many players have the ability to play multiple formats (VLC), or I can find a player for a specific format (Quicktime) or convert a file if need be (handbrake). Most common plug and play would be .avi, .mp4 though.
Vid files won't play automatically, but they will usually be associated with a specific player on your machine that will be launched when you want to view it.

Got mine (Edinburgh Scotland) last week and am really enjoying it. I had a long drive South over the weekend and listened to the mp3 audio file on the way down. Learned loads.

Thanks!

Hi Laree

I live in Ireland amazon.com indicates about 30 days for delivery do you know if I may receive this any quicker from ordering directly on the website here?
Thanks

Chris, I'm thrilled to see this! I thought putting the mp3 on there was a bit of a lark, and I'm glad it turned out to be a good idea.

30 days is a long time. I wonder why. I'd be surprised if it was more than two weeks, 10 days maybe. Priority mail should arrive at your customs office within a week, then processing takes... who knows... then delivery. 10-14 days is average for international order delivery, though.

We're also *real* close to having these available via download if that's interesting to you. Once it's set up, the file will begin downloading immediately and will take a couple of hours depending on connection. At that point, you could burn it to a dvd and save the shipping entirely.

Those will be available for $29 per disc (1, 2 & 3). The mp3 and transcript is available for $29 right now. All told, the package will be a little cheaper via download vs physical product, but more than that, the purchase price can be spread out, and, in fact, the package can be tested one disc at a time.

Here's the link for the mp3/transcript download page (not the video, just the audio and lecture transcript pdf plus the workshop handouts and Dan's new Intervention writing):

Laree (and Dan),

Just wanted to send out a big thanks for allowing the "a la carte" method for ordering Intervention. As a non-professional and with my current financial situation of having a kid in a few months (with lots of kid stuff to buy, which I've been assured is completely necessary even though half the stuff wasn't around 30 years ago and most of it wasn't around 100 years ago - hard to understand how people have raised kids for tens of thousands of years without it, but I digress...), it's hard for me to justify the $129 for the whole set right now. However, this lets me dive into the audio, transcript and notes for now so that I can save the individual dvd download purchases for holidays and birthdays. Most retailers don't offer these kinds of flexible methods of purchase, so thank you for having such a creative outlook on how to sell it. It's very much appreciated.

Dan, super, thanks! I really love the idea of putting stuff out in as many different ways as possible. It's impossible to guess how people will use information (audio, video or written, I mean), so let's figure out how to get it out in as many ways as possible! Not to mention the financial aspect...

I'm in the middle of the downloadable video tangle. In fact, some people noticed the everythingstrength site went down a couple of days ago. Turns out I FILLED UP the server as I was uploading the video files. Caused all kinds of problems over the weekend. Oops!

We're getting a new server, that's the upside of all this... means the forum will get even faster.

Meanwhile, we'll be using a different solution for video downloads... should be settled by mid-week.

I think people agree with you "Another Dan." I won't ever do the full workshop again, for a number of reasons, but I think the material needs to be "sipped" rather than guzzled...so certainly you are doing this "right," too.

I appreciate your insights...

I did the digital download and it worked great. Finished the first disk and was impressed by the production value. Looking forward to the rest of the material. I thought it's funny when Dan mentioned something along the lines of "I'll tell you the answer". I think it would have been more appropriate to say "I'll tell you the question".

Is this something for me?

I absolutely enjoy Dan's work. I have Mass Made Simple and Never Let Go, along with a DVD about the warm ups he used at Juan Diego and some other basics.

The thing is, it's a lot of money for a 20 year old student. And if it helps me find new ways to reach my goals (hockey, strength, awesomeness), and it fits into my "liking preferences" then I'm all for it. Does it?

How about going the "in pieces" option? You can order the full MP3 of the lecture, with transcript for $20. Or in downloadable, $20 each for the videos, so you can either test it, or build on it as finances allow.

Alternatively, if you can afford the dvd, you're totally welcome to return it if it's not right for you. I promise I won't tell Dan.

When I was 20 (or 30 or 40, for that matter), I did not have the money to even consider a $129 DVD. Had I had this knowledge at those ages, however, it would have changed everything.

I finally downloaded the set last week and finished the first video last night. started on disk 2. great so far. the transaction was really smooth and the price is great! thanks for putting it out there in this format. I'll take some time to watch all the vids and let the info sink in before reviewing, but I will say that one thing I really like is how the information is life centric, not just strength centric.

I'm on my 2nd go through now, taking notes and preparing for a full review. The MP3 could stand on its own I think, especially in conjunction with the extras\handouts. If for no other reason, because the price is fair. If you were charging $80 for the mp3 portion then I'd expect more, but it's in a very reasonable spot where it is.

When I picked it up I was concerned about overlap with the other workshop, but there really isn't a ton and they compliment each other well.

Well there goes my excuse for a trip to the US!

It's excellent stuff, I just watched through it all, not in one sitting of course. Now of course I have to watch it again so I can understand it, I'm a man of many concussions.

I would like to register a complaint that you did not publish this before I started my personal training career though, it's very inconsiderate of you.

But to be fair, I wouldn't have understood it then. It's one of those things that only makes sense after coaching people for a bit. There were a lot of, "ah, so that's why that guy..." moments.

I'm hoping to be able to unpack the hinge stuff in particular, seems to be the most difficult thing to coach well.

This is really weird.. I downloaded disc 2 (already got disc 3). But this time I cant save it to my computer? Any ideas why that is?
It just shows on the internet as a quicktime file... And I guess that once I leave the page, the movie will be lost?

Edit: I figured it out, but had to take a weird way to do it! Maybe it's just my computer not wanting to play along today.. ;)

I lent it to one of my PT clients. She writes,

Thought it was good, as I said earlier, saw a lot of what you do with me in training.*

Went to the gym after disc 2 and did (with a 12.5kg dumbbell): 1 goblet squat, 1 hinge (with DB), 2 squats, 2 hinges (up to 10 of each), one-armed bench press superset w rows, plank for 30 secs then one-armed OHP, plank and OHP and lunges, plank and OHP and lunges and lunges with raised leg.

And then some loaded carries around the gym :)

Was fun!

* Kyle's note: a while back I emailed DJ to let him know I was a thief and had stolen a lot of his words, he didn't reply which I assume is his response meaning, "you, too? oh well."
