What I learned today:

Training means that you have a specific goal in mind and you're working towards that goal.

Working out means killing time with exercise.

Think I'll make that into a sign or something!

What has been happening during these training sessions is interesting. We warm-up, but not in a way that most would recognize. Each segment is more of movement practice rather than exercise.

If I was to over-think it, I might say it was a warm-up to warm-up, but that would be wrong. It's looking more and more like a focusing of priorities or even an identification of training needs.

What it boils down to is this, there is a lot of work being done that doesn't seem like it (work) and when we get down to doing the hard stuff, it's easy* because we're ready.

*Not really, but you get what I mean.

Mark it Zero.

Yes, that is what happened the first meeting, the one I attended. Very good for us over 50, an easing into everything, and it's fun to be outside with others who share one's love of movement and fitness.

It is also excellent for those younger and they will be challenged.

Thanks, Guy! Because you know, I'd have to quit this stuff if all I was doing was killing time. I could use a little more of that right now.

What's been cool about the training sessions is its more like "play time" for me. The two hours go so quickly I wonder where the time goes. While looking back on the last two sessions, I find my thoughts haven't wandered to areas like work, problems, or life. To me, the sessions are zen/mushin-like.

I leave feeling refreshed even though I know the training worked my entire body (inside and out).

Seriously, go to this one.

Hi, Is it acceptable to show up late-ish, take responsibility for your own warm-up then join the program in progress or should one wait until attending from the start is possible?

I just stickied this for future reference. Here are the directions.

This is in Coyote Point Park, in the first area adjacent to the parking lot. There is an unmanned gate there -- take the first left toward the grassy field.

Park info:

Coyote Point map pdf:
http://www.co.sanmateo.ca.us/Attachments/parks/File s/Park%20Maps%20in%20PDF/ Coyote%20Point%20Park%20M ap.pdf

Bring a kettlebell or two... if you have them.
