Yep, yardwork will kill ya... I much more prefer deadlifting a bar in the gym, to deadlifting my trailer!

Three workouts the week of 05/07/2007 to 05/11/07. Not enough time to log.

Taking ageless growth helped the Monday and Weds. workouts. More energy. Fri is the light workout.

We were taking it for a while last year and then stopped for reasons I can't remember.

We are taking it on Monday and Wednesday. Friday is an easier workout so I don't use it then.

It gives us more energy and isn't like some controlled substance in the way you feel.

We take 5 before a workout.

It's been a long couple of weeks with a new dog around. He is having trouble training us

He was with us during our workout and is pretty well behaved and can be kept out from under the weights.

Workout was hard enough, but left us some energy.
I could work out much harder, but would be pretty tired the next day. Don't want to do that over the holiday weekend.

Monday's workout on Tuesday.

Back db rows'
35 x 10
50 x 10
65 x 10 x 3

shoulders
laterals
5 x 10
10 x 10
15 x 10 x 4

Shrugs
65 x 10 x 3

db curls
15 x 10
35 x 10 x 3

Took a week off to work on other things which never happened cause of one thing or another.

Garage is in a little bit of a mess between working on the car and my new dog chewing up a big section of my gym rug and some how getting to my flat bench and chewing off the vinyl and foam top. I think he was trying to expose the weakness of the construction. The plywood couldn't have been thicker than 3/8". I will replace it with 3/4" plywood and ordered a piece of 10 x 45 x 2" rebond foam. I have some vinyl left from about 25 years ago so it's still good and will be used on the top. The bench was a Yukon and only cost about $85.00. Still my old York bench which cost less than $30.00 back in the 60's survived dropping a 180lb BB on it with out a mark.

It's back to workouts as usual except they have to get harder for better results.

I will be working more deads and cleans. Looking for more power exercises to use, have to scratch my head and come up with more result producing workouts while allowing for physical limitations.

Bruce,
Sorry you guys can't make it down for the P-land/Al dinner... we'll miss you

On the bright side though, it looks like things are still chugging along for both of you. Good workouts all around!
It's time to move on,time to get going,
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing,
But under my feet baby, grass is growing,
It's time to move on, it's time to get going...

Doing dead lifts on a Friday evening is not a good idea if you want to be able to do something over the weekend. Definitely tired me out. Jason was just a little sore. Being young helps I guess.
Monday's workout:
Due to a long weekend of leveling out the Plymouth, cutting out metal on the inside that wouldn't be used for the new setup and clean up, plus Jason working 12 hours shift this week the work out was scaled down so he wouldn't be too exhausted by the end of the week.
Back:
DB ROWS
35 X 10
50 X 10
65 X 10 3 SETS
BICEPS
40 X 10 OLY BAR
35DB'S X 10 3 SETS
That was it for last night. I did have to move a bunch of car parts around and sweep up the floor to get rid of the dirt from the plasma torch used to burn through the inner body panels in the car. Still more tear down to come. Then it’s build up time. Lots of welding and body work to come. Event though Jason is doing the welding I have to be there to help and lend some support.

Body building of the mechanical kind.

Workouts continue even though I haven't logged anything. A slight reduction of volumne since Jason is putting a lot of extra energy into the car. As I said before this is an upgrade center for humans and machines.

worked out last night and did:
Pull downs
dumb bell rows
side laterals
bar bell curls
All the work on the car caused a few missed workouts.
Here's a couple pictures of the new rear end in the car. Jason did all the welding and fabrication. Everything has to be properly positioned, level and all measurement correct, up, down, sideways and diagonally. Jason did every weld and cut all tubes to the correct length as well.

I am very proud of his ability to do this work.

Thanks Steve.
This is a joint project. I pretty much decided on the design of the car based on the latest SFI 25.2 specs for cars that can go as fast as 6.00 seconds in the quarter mile. Jason has been doing the welding and cutting. I do a lot of sweeping and cleaning up. Oh yeah, I'm paying for all of this! Jason is a real expert welder. He wanted to build a race car, so now he is getting the chance. I'll probably do the wiring, painting and share the body work. I am doing most of the research on what to buy and the combination of parts we will use. There is a lot to this and from a planning stand point I am planning on safety first which includes the chassis/roll cage and braking power. All disk brakes and twin parachutes and a fire suppression system. I may kid around a lot, but when it comes time to be serious I am deadly serious.

2000 hp twin turbo big block mopar engine should get the job done.

Wed. workout.
10 - 11 at work the "Industrial athlete" exercise class. It consists of lots of different stretching and some bodyweight squats with a ball against the wall. All that stretching aggravated by back at the lower left side by the belt line for a while after the class. Actually a pretty good class and it's on company time.

Went home and did squats and flat bench presses.
The squats with the "TOP SQUAT" didn't bother my back, but the benches did. Same spot, so after about three sets with 185 I called it a day with the exercise.

Back is still a little sore today. Taking some Motrin and trying not to aggravate it any more for a while. That's the first time in as long as I can remember having any back pain that was more than the normal small aches we all get.

Oh well, it will get better with time.

Bruce

P.S. Thanks for the compliment Al....I think.

Friday's workout:
Did back, shoulders, and arms.
My lower back was feeling ok from Wed. when I was doing that exercise class at work. Stretching cold is a hazardous experience.

Today we did cable pull downs with the neutral bar.
Dumbbell rows,

Lateral raises

and dumbbell curls super sets with rope press downs.
Rest was kept to the time it took each of us to do our set. We kept the pace quick to get the most from a short workout.

Bicep triceps was almost non stop through the 5 sets.

Good work out and my back didn't bother me.

Worked out last night.
Did Leg press cause I didn't feel like doing squats. Worked in 45 -50lb jumps to about 285.
Did a couple of work sets. I had the Industrial athlete class at work and my legs were tired from doing a minute of wall squats with a big blue ball behind my back. At least I didn't pull anything in there during the class.

We did flat benches after the leg press.
40 x 20
95 x 15
135 x 10
185 x 5
185 x 10, 5 for Jason
185 x 7, 5 for Jason

we did tricep press downs with the rope
60 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 10
90 x 10 for 2 sets.

One set of move everything back were it belongs and then take a shower.

Friday workout:
legs, chest & triceps
Squats with TOP SQUAT attachment
55 x 10
105 x10
150 x 10
200 x 10
We went up on the squats by 50lbs. Both Jason and I were having a little Knee pain for a while, but it didn't bother us on todays workout.

Chest
Incline db presses
35 x 10
65 x 5 for 5 sets for Jason
I did 4 sets of 5 and one set of 10 reps. I'll go easier when I get old.

triceps
rope press downs
50 x10
60 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 10
90 x 10
100 x 10
Hmmm, didn't realize we did that many sets till I wrote it down.
Ramped it up a little tonight. I have to be careful of putting too much weight on Jason in bench presses. He gets some shoulder pain if were not careful. I just do a few more reps than him. I out weigh him by a good 60 lbs which is my only advantage.

A good workout tonight.

Fridays workout got cancelled due to Jason wanting to drive his 70 Plum crazy purple Challenger to a local hang out where his fellow motor heads get together on Friday's. He usually misses this due to workouts. Since the summer is almost over I figured he did need to have a little fun. Not that grunting and sweating with heavy weights isn't great fun. It's just a different kind of fun.

Today I did a couple hours of walking. We went to a car show at Arlington Airport and man were there a huge amount of cars there!
So we walked and looked and walked and looked. Stopped and talked to some people that Jason knows. I being a hermit don't know anyone outside of work.

It was good exercise since I don't get enough walking most of the time. Great weather too. We will do our regular workout on Monday.

Sunday I did and hour and a half digging and hacking away at an area aroung a tree strump in my back yard. Got interupted when I broke the handle of my pick. I know everyone will think it's my Spidey powers, but the handle was really old and weak. Went to Lowes and go a madick (sp).

After waiting for a price check for ever I got my new tool and went home. By then the mood had left and I took a shower and Checked on what Jason was doing to the Plymouth in the garage. More welding magic going on.

Monday:
Legs, chest, and tri's
We did squats
55 x 10
105 x 10
150 x 10
200 x 10
jason did a second set. I didn't want to press my luck. We used the top squat so I didn't have to be in pain.

Bp's flat
40 x 20
95 x15
135 x 10
185 x 5
195 x 5
195 x 7 me 3 for jason

Tri's
rope press downs
60 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 10
90 x10
100 x 10 2 sets.

that was it for the night.

Good job you two!!!

I just got the go-ahead from my neighbor to take down a nasty old pair tree (produces rotten pairs, and drops them on my roof (BANG!) in the middle of the night....

Also about 5 cedars if I want to. This will tremendously help both of our properties...

So..... I'll be sharpening up my Big Mac for the job.

Brother Stingo:

Remember - that chainsaw is much more vicious than a Swiss Army knife! ('member?) Stay safe and have at it.

LOL!!! Yes, brother, I'll never forget that story

Thank you... I plan to stay on the ground for this adventure... Big Mac, it just that.... Too BEEG to be lugging up a tree. Will keep everyone posted, and perhaps will have a video or two...
