I need an additional Oly bar. I do not want to spend a ridiculous amount for it, but the cheapo backup bar I DO have isn't even close to balance.

Recs?

On Facebook there are groups devoted to vintage York equipment. I've picked up a piece or two on eBay. Like anything, the prices are good, but shipping on the other hand...
Mark it Zero.

I'm looking for a starter bar for my kids. Girls. Oldest is 11, two of them built like tanks and she's one. Coordination is not their thing so I thought maybe some easy training, plus when they see me watching videos they tell me "I can do that". I don't know what direction to go, though, for a barbell.

Justin...You cannot go wrong with Rogue. They have several bars under 300 bucks that will last the rest of your life. Do you want center knurling or no?

Diablo... you should check out women’s Olympic bars. 15kg/35lb, but the diameter is much smaller for little hands. I think Rogue also makes a 15lb ‘technique’ bar, but they would probably outgrow that really quick.

That's what definitely makes me gun shy to get one for them, being outgrown. I was thinking just go for one that would be regulation for adult female and let them grow into it, which shouldn't take long. My oldest is already over 140# at 5'1" with long limbs, short waist, I mean solid. The little one going to be about the same. I just don't know enough on it for them. If they were boys I'd just put them on a regular bar, which I'm still tempted to do, but I don't want to make them not like it because of any kind of difficulty with it.

I have an Eleiko Training bar in excellent condition for sale ($350). Crooksville, Ohio 43731
Pickup only. It's designed for Olympic style weightlifting - and would not be the best choice for a Powerlifting Bar - but it is an excellent bar.

If you happen to be in south-central PA, you can always go to York and visit the museum and possibly see if they have anything of interest there. That's how I got my first olympic stuff (bar and bumper plates) -- without getting killed on shipping.

Best,
Mark

I ultimately went with Rogue, but the York trip was tempting (it looks like their physical store is currently closed).
