Stone Lifting

Clay Edgin at the Nor Cal Strongman Contest, 2005

When trying to get better at the stones it is easy to become very frustrated with their lack of progress. To start off with, you need to spend time with your hands on the stones on a regular basis. You can do all the work in the world in the gym to prepare yourself for the stones, but you have to spend time doing the stones and working on technique to become really good at them. Make it to the bottom to get to the good stuff.

And here's Boris with photos of his stone-making process.

Over here at Diesel Crew, you can read of the comparison between Olympic lifting and stone work, and here can grab a 12-page pdf stone lifting report. They even have a new stone lifting dvd.

Scott Bird over at Straight From The Bar has a compilation of stone lifting links you should spend some time reading.
