Leg Curl

LEG CURL

Taken from Dave Draper's book, Brother Iron, Sister Steel

The leg curl is a machine exercise that works the muscles on the back of the thighs, the hamstrings, also know as the thigh biceps. Typically an under-worked muscle, it is important to bring the thigh biceps into balance with the quads to provide overall strength, protect the leg complex from injury and add appealing symmetry to the body. Position yourself according to the mechanics of the apparatus, adjust carefully and perform the reps as indicated. Four or five sets of six to twelve reps twice a week work well. I practice one-and-a-half-second eccentric, with a half-second pause and a two second concentric tempo. I seek tight contraction and commonly do curls as the second part of a leg extension-leg curl superset, doing single-leg calf block stretching during the pause between supersets.
