Hammer Strength Machines

HAMMER STRENGTH MACHINES

Taken from Dave Draper's book, Brother Iron, Sister Steel

Hammer came on the gym equipment scene in the early 1990s. Pictures of the preposterous-looking stuff filled the pages of the muscle mags and I thought, “What a joke. These things will behead a person before they build his or her muscles.”

It was two years before assorted pieces for various muscle groups popped up in gyms across the country. Today, Hammer has a rugged plate-loading machine for every sinew in the body and they work — big time. More or less, you sit down and either push or pull as indicated. I mention this here because I often note them in my routines and on occasion get queries from the confused, asking “What’s he talking about now?” Easy to use, sure to do the job.
