Blood Testing

Did you know you could have your blood drawn at a local lab and have it sent for testing elsewhere? The hard part is likely to be getting your doctor to order more advanced testing, and it may even require insistence on your part, or even shopping for a new medical practitioner.

Once you've done your research and know what you want to discover, and have found someone to order the lab tests, there here are the cutting-edge labs you'll want to review.

Don't forget: Many tests require fasting or to hold back medicines and your results will be useless if you don't follow instructions.

Best tip: Drink extra water the day before and the day of testing. The blood draw is easier when your veins are well hydrated.

Prostate-specific Antigen (PSA)

Great Smokies Diagnostic Lab suggests these main blood screening categories, and if you look to the top right, you'll see a section entitled, "Find Assessments," where you can also search by medical condition.
