Do you think there's nothing new under the sun? Guess again. I don't care how long you've been reading muscle mags and training courses, you are going to see a lot of stuff you never saw before in these videos. No bodybuilding / powerlifting type stuff, but a lot of bodyweight exercises on the chin bar and rings, some Indian club drills, and some yoga and yoga variants.
The actual files can be found at www.rmaxi.com/home with a drop down menu to each, including the most recent one:
www.rmaxi.com/images/4x7sonnon9.wmv
(Scroll your mouse over the link to Coach Sonnon's Video Fitness Blog after watching the video that starts automatically after the site loads for other video options.)
The guy in the videos is named Scott Sonnon, he sells a souped up version of Indian clubs and other fitness and martial arts training products.

What did you use for the rings? The strapping is fairly straight forward.

I got some plastic rings from a commercial fishing supply for like $25 for the pair, they are purse seing net rings or something like that. There are handles for playground stuff at Home Depot, and of course you can use the D-rings like on a crossover machine. D-Rings, chain, and snap clips is qucik and easy. You don't really want a rotating handle on the D-ring, though, they are unstable enough in the first place. D-rings with nylon straps is basically what elitefts.com is selling as "blast straps." Elitefts.com has a nice gallery of blast strap exercises in their Q&A section. Chains are nice because it's easy to get them exactly even.
Rings are necessary for some gymnastics skills, like a muscle-up, where you pull from a dead hang to the top position of a dip. However, you have to have something real high to hang them from to do muscle-ups. (And you have to be real strong.) Rings are also better if you want to put two hands on the ring for certain things. For the most part, not necessary.
You can do some of the ring exercises hanging onto a large rope, too, which will build tremendous strength in the grip and wrists. There was a circus performer in the old days that could do ring gymnastics hanging from two lengths of chain - try that some time!

Laree and all,
Thank you very much for your kind words. Receiving mention on Dave's discussion forum is the highest praise I could get considering that he's the greatest living icon in the iron game. I'm honored!!
After having my arm broken during the final match at 93 World Games which left me with avascular necrosis in my wrist, coupled with a debilitating back injury from deadlifting which left me bed-ridden in St. Petersburg, Russia, I had to develop an alternative approach to strength and conditioning. It was a long, hard road coming back from zero, and I credit my success to the inspiration of leaders like Dave Draper who has shoulders big enough for all of us to stand on.
Thank you again for all of your kind words! Laree, Jodie and I were hoping to visit sometime this Fall. It's just serendipitous that this should be the perfect opportunity to ask.
warmest regards,
Scott Sonnon

I never knew you'd had tough injuries, Scott, although as intense as your training is, it's hard to imagine how you wouldn't have had.
It would be awesome to see you guys if you're coming down this direction... any time! The past times when we've met have been distracted, with conversations ended early by disruptions and boarding calls. It'd be great fun to have plenty of time to talk.
