I'm pretty-familiar with a lot of different types of push-ups yet the name "ped" is unfamiliar to me... maybe it's a Vince Gironda thing (I know practically nothing of his methods & exercise-names... just what little I've read here).

Ah, the Great Mystery of the Ped-Pushup........I had asked about these on www.vincesgym.com a few years ago, never got an answer.

Perhaps it is a pedestal pushup? I did these in high school with 3 cinderblocks; one for each hand and one for the feet.

CajinJohn, can you offer any insight?

That makes sense, Dave. Vince did occasionally recommend push ups done with the hands and feet on chairs...however, I've heard that movement referred to as a fulcrum push up.

This pushup as was explained to me by Vince was used to streach the pecs. In the right front of his gym he had a half box on the wall to put your feet on. Then he had a two crome post with a round pad on top for you hands. You were supposed to do this pushup with you middle saging toward the fllor. Also elbows wide. No weight besides body weight was to be used. I hope you can understand this.
It don't matter

Gotcha, Cajin.

Now, the mystery has been solved. And it would seem that the wide grip, vee bar dip and the ring fly would be the logical extension of the "ped"estal push up.

Somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind, I remember seeing a picture of "someone" using that set up...can't remember who, though.

Thank you.
